Boy, what's your problem?
Who: Bellamy and Beau
What: Fetching the patient.
When: Just before Lunch, Saturday June 25th
Where: Rosier Manor
CW: Explicit homophobia
The sheer number of guests now in the house made Beau chafe. Courtenay had been one thing, he’d turned out to be far more pleasant than anticipated certainly, but at least he was inclined to leave the manor often enough. The addition of the Marshal, even as an invalid, had made his home feel crowded. A place he was far less able to be himself, a place he had to more carefully watch how he behaved. He’d been cordial to the Marshal, of course, greeted him and asked after any requests like a host might. But otherwise he avoided the man, sensing some variety of discomfort from him at every interaction and all too happy to oblige him and stay away.
The impending arrival of Blair that afternoon made his frustrated overstimulation worse. His instinct to go and hide in his smoking room until she was gone ran high. Any other time he might have obeyed it, but he was still conscious that he owed Viola. For Unification day, for any number of things, really. The things for which she took responsibility mounting endlessly. The very least he could do would be to show up and smile like a host for an hour while Blair swanned icily around the terrace. The least he could do would be to minimize her embarrassment.
So when Viola asked him to go and make sure that the Marshal made it downstairs safely, he complied without complaint. Dressed in a tailored blue suit of light fabric and a white linen shirt, he looked more traditionally Clovennian than he typically cared to, more deference to traditional guests. Then again there was very little he could do about the louche mess of curls on his head which somewhat ruined the effect of respectability and made him look rather like what he was: a self-indulgent artist.
Beau rapped his knuckles on the door of the Rose Room, the other hand in his pocket. “Marshal?” He called politely, “Blair’s just arrived.”
