It had been a while since Nila had been back in Sapphire City. Camping outside the city proper gave her some small sense of comfort, but it was still close to her home, still close to the city proper. It wouldn't be long before she met people she knew, that was for certain. What wasn't certain was how she felt about it. But Nila wasn't to sort to put things off. She had to go into town eventually and she might as well get it over with. They were going to be here a little while. She got dressed, not for hard traveling, but for more relaxed comfort, and set aside her crossbow. She doubted she'd need that in town, but she had plenty of means of defending herself if needed. She pinned her cloak on over the blouse and leather vest she wore, and with a words to a few other Wanderers, headed toward the city.
The last time Nila had been in Sapphire City, she had been packing up to leave with Jonas. Her mouth turned down at the corners at the memory, and she hoisted her bag on her shoulder. Dark eyes scanned the town, noting what had changed in six years, and what remained exactly the same. Memories flooded over her, some from when she was a child visiting the city with her parents, or while on leave from school. Others came from her adulthood, when she tried to make something of herself in this place. With purpose, she headed for the Rusty Bucket, wondering if the place was as tough as she remembered. A quick glance told her it was in fact worse, and Nila decided she'd rather taste ale, not blood, and instead headed for the White Horse Tavern.
The decor hadn't changed much, nor had the people. Nila settled at the bar, silently grateful that the cheerful young bartender seemed unfamiliar. Good. Fewer questions asked.
