When Everil turned back, her face was perfectly composed, relaxing in her smile. The fact that her stomach was twisting unpleasantly not the least bit apparent. The tension around her eyes was obviously only from rounding the corner and turning into the sun.
"Aoife," Everil said, her voice open and betraying none of the whispered shock of a few moments ago, "Imagine seeing you here. And in Sapphire City of all places! What have you been doing with yourself?"
Everil knew perfectly well what she was doing with herself, having seen her in the candle shop, but at least it was an opening. She looked practically unchanged, though maybe a bit more sure of herself. There was always a possibility of teaming up with her again. Looking at the shock on her face, she revised that to a small possibility in her mind. Everil couldn't let that fact write Aoife off so quickly however, what with the sheer amount of energy the sorcerer could store. That was the only thing that she was concerned with after all. It had nothing to do with how well the blue in her apron brought out the color of her eyes or contrasted pleasantly with the color of her hair.
