Portia was relieved that she wasn't interrupting anything and she relaxed slightly, allowing herself a slight smile when Hiram asked her to stay. "If you're sure," she said, taking a few steps closer and loosening her grip on the package so she could offer it to Hiram.
It was a small, simply wrapped package in plain, bright yellow paper with a bright blue string tied around it. Portia smiled shyly as she offered it to her friend. "Happy Birthday," she offered, hoping that he didn't think her silly for going through all that trouble for a silly little gift but it was too late to back out now.
