Who: Clare and Cate
What: Girls' night
When: Sunday evening
Where: Ravenclaw fifth year girls' room.
“Girls’ night” was a foreign concept for Clare. It wasn’t that she wasn’t friends with her room mates, as Hugo had seemed to imply, just that she didn’t really participate in most feminine forays. The giggling and gossiping that was a frequent occurrence usually just resulted in eye rolling from Clare and possibly a snide remark or two. She wasn’t interested in lip gloss or fashion frills. She would, on occasion, take interest in conversations of which blokes were fit or not, but that was as far into the feminine as she ever went. She preferred to talk about quidditch and music, make sarcastic comments, and punch shoulders when people said stupid things. Those types of interactions usually lent themselves to spending time with blokes.
But Cate was feeling out of sorts. She was hormonal and Hugo had upset her, not to mention she had sibling issues underlying it all. Clare could definitely identify with all of the above, and it had her feeling unusually generous and friendly. So she had sought out some snacks – crisps, popcorn, and a couple of bags of different kinds of chocolates – and brought them back to their room. She was supposed to meet Cate there and she supposed that Cate would take care of whatever else was supposed to be included in a “girls’ night”, because she certainly didn’t know.
