Who: Catherine Delany and Emma Bailey What: Gotham-style hijinks When: 3/23/11, evening Where: Around the Bat Signal
Since Gotham had shown up several months back, Catherine had only popped into it a handful of times. Usually she was too busy with her own life, mainly her precious animal shelter, to worry about Selina's own stomping grounds. But occasionally when she was out and about in the cat suit, doing a little jewel theft, she'd stop by. From the first time she'd donned it, the cat suit had felt like a second skin, as if she had been born to wear it, and, in a way, she had. Similarly, slipping into Selina's old life of crime had been just as easy.
She liked to justify her serial burglary by the fact that she wasn't doing it for herself, but for all her darling animals. Not a cent of the money she got from hocking the priceless gems she had stolen went into her own pocket. Ninety percent of it went instead to funding her own shelter while the other ten percent went toward other shelters in the area. So she may have been taking money from the rich, but, in the end, she was giving it to those who needed it most: poor, defenseless animals who couldn't take care of themselves. Might as well call her a female Robin Hood. Then again, there already had been one on the boards and looked as if there was another.
This particular evening, Catherine had slipped into Gotham after a successful heist, a small sack full of diamonds slung over one shoulder. From down on the streets, she spotted the looming presence of the Bat Signal high on the roof of a building, and a tiny smirk played on her lips. Of course it was here. It was a desire to see if it still looked the same that prompted her to scale the side of the building and swing onto the roof with the agility that she had inherited from Selina.
