Who: Jane Adams and Ryan Macintosh What: NEWS When: Saturday Evening Where: The lobby of Agency HQ in London
Jane wasn't kidding when she told Kit she was going to be in the Agency lobby. She wasn't hiding though. (Although it would be a good hiding place. Who would look there for her?) She was looking for Deputy Director Ford. Or Director Macintosh, if she could manage it. Her story earlier in the day had been rather sensational, and not in a good way, but it was all the information she had. If she could print a more thorough story, she would, and she wanted to tell the Agency's side of it. It was just a matter of actually getting the Agency's side. They were notoriously tight-lipped, and the Media Department was notoriously unhelpful. It was always much better if she could go right to the source, even if that was far more time-consuming.
There was actually something nice about the fact that she could do that at all. CEOs were whisked to their town cars with staff surrounding them. World leaders were knee deep in security agents no matter where they were. The security on the Agency was tight as well, but the directors still walked around on their own, went home on their own. Jane wondered if that would last another generation, or if this was the end of an era? For their sakes, she hoped it would last. The Secret Service were fine, dedicated individuals, but that didn't change the fact that they were a pain in the ass.
For the time being though, anyone could just walk up to them with a question, assuming that person actually recognized them. It was almost quaint. All they needed to complete the picture was a big block of cheese in a back room. Kit would probably get on that soon. Or maybe she'd mention it herself when she finally found one of the people she was looking for. They couldn't stay in their offices all day. They'd have to pass through here eventually. For the moment, she pretended to admire one of the statues in the lobby while she kept a careful eye on the elevators.
