Who: Colin Ford and Owen Murphy
What: Colin and Owen go for a drive. They end up in Blüdhaven? WTF, MATE.
When: Wednesday afternoon, June 9th 2010
Where: Blüdhaven! (In reality, Atlantic City, New Jersey)
Status: Complete? Unless you want to turn it into a thread, Amy, which I'm cool with! :)
Colin was still getting over the shock of seeing his sister on the boards when he left the Agency that afternoon (well, afternoon for the Stats) to meet Owen outside of Gotham and take off for a bit. They'd been planning this for a couple days now, ever since Gotham had shown up Dick had been in the back of Colin's mind anxiously waiting for a Blüdhaven to appear. Colin himself wasn't sure he even wanted to see it. There was still a lot of guilt hanging over their heads regarding the entire Infinite Crisis and the destruction of the city Dick had sworn to protect. He'd always felt like he could have done more and Colin was just tired of dealing with baggage that wasn't even his. He had nothing to do with Blüdhaven, not anymore. But Gotham was here now, and because of Dick he felt obligated enough that if Blüdhaven really was out there, he'd do his best to protect them both.
They'd rented a car for the afternoon (his new salary at the Agency really was one of the biggest perks and Colin didn't have a problem admitting that) and taken off into the heart of New Jersey, away from the Harbor and all things Gotham. If Blüdhaven was here, it wouldn't be near the coast, it'd be in Atlantic City, Dick and Tim were positive about that one. It just fit into place with what had already come out? Colin half wondered if they'd drive into Atlantic City only to find that giant crater that had been left of Blüdhaven, or would the city itself be there like the Battle of Blüdhaven never happened? For Dick's sake, Colin hoped for the latter, neither of them needed to see that destruction for a second time. Well, it would be Colin's first time, seeing as how the only thing he had to rely on were Dick's memories. But that was almost like seeing it for himself, and that was definitely enough. His head mate's words still echoed in his ears. "When you die in Blüdhaven -- going to Hell is considered a promotion."
They'd taken their comm links with then in case they found anything, Blüdhaven or otherwise, so they were as prepared as they could be. Colin was trying to keep his mind on other things so he concentrated on the road and his boyfriend in the seat next to him. Owen said something and Colin laughed, turning briefly to smile at him before he nearly swerved off the road in surprise. He'd been concentrating so hard on not concentrating that he hadn't noticed how familiar these roads were starting to look and also the fact that for the past ten minutes he'd essentially been driving from memory. Memories that weren't his, since Colin had never been to Atlantic City in his life. He'd driven them straight into Blüdhaven's Narrows. Bringing the car to a complete stop, he sucked in a breath. "Sorry. Shit," he muttered, fumbling for his comm link. "Guys. Pretty sure we just found Blüdhaven."
