It was finally the day, and Xander was beyond ecstatic to finally be able to search for the camp that Percy was constantly urging him to find. The demigod was restless in the real world, on the complete opposite coast than he was raised and so close to the entrance to Hades. His influence over Xander was a lot stronger than either of them meant it to be, something that never really occurred to either boy. They were so alike that Xander just assumed it was his own decisions leading him towards things. Whatever the case, both boys had been unbelievably bouncy all day, and by the time he and Elena were able to sneak out past their guardians, Xander was about to climb out of his skin.
The MTN was an amazing invention, and until then, Xander hadn’t had much use for it other than to go visit Star. This was a lot bigger than just visiting his girlfriend. What waited for them was answers, and for Xander, home. He hadn’t told Elena yet, but if the possibility was there… Well, he wanted to stay at camp.
“I told Kimiko we’d meet her at the MTN in Montauk,” He explained to Elena as they stepped into the crisp New York air. He zipped up his hoodie quickly to fend against the cold. Riptide was in his pocket, and his thumb ran over it constantly in its pen form to reassure himself. If they ran into monsters, he could handle it. He pulled his backpack full of provisions—namely beef jerky and some water—onto his back and pulled the hood over his head, flashing his sister a smile. “Are you ready?”
With that, he stepped over to the side to wait for their friend’s arrival, his body coursing with the excitement of adrenaline. This was really happening.
