Who: Valerie Munro and Tabitha Roberts What: New Year's Eve cute! Where: Thom and Tabby's flat in London When: Just before midnight, December 31, 2010 Warnings: The... opposite of that other thread we just put up. Yep.
Valerie Munro wasn't what you'd call a social butterfly, which surprised almost everyone who met her. With her long blonde hair and statuesque body, she looked like she ought to be a social butterfly – she knew that, and yet, here she was. Painfully shy and terrified of any sort of human interaction whatsoever. When Draco had first arrived, he'd said she was worse than a Hufflepuff, a complete coward, afraid of everything up to and including her own shadow. At least Slytherins had ambition; Val didn't even have that. Her so-called career was all thanks to her mum. Valerie Munro was nothing but a pretty face.
That had never bothered her until she met Tabitha Roberts, the rather surprising reincarnate of Hermione Granger. They were the same in a lot of ways, which aggravated Draco to no end, but it was the differences that... well, for lack of a better word, confused Valerie. Tabitha was a very confusing individual. She was completely petrifying, yet sometimes she was all Val could think about. Well. Not sometimes. All the time. And that was the most petrifying thing of all.
Still, she was glad when Tabitha invited her to a private party. She liked that word, private. Private meant safe, and that was exactly how she felt around Tabitha. Strangely... comfortable. And it definitely showed. As soon as she arrived at the flat she shared with Thom, Val stuck to Tabby almost like glue. Close, but not too close, but closer and closer with each consecutive sip of champagne. After a few hours, she'd even worked up the courage to pull Tabby away from Thom and his pointy American boyfriend and into the small kitchen adjoining the living room. She was more than a little tipsy by now, and she felt very warm.
"Hey," she whispered quietly, looking down at her hand. It was still holding Tabitha's, and suddenly her mouth felt very dry. "I've got, erm... I've got a. I've got a question."
