The sun had already gone down as Zoë and Zev made their way to a clearing in the woods, a place that was more or less their spot for whenever Zoë made the trip up here. Usually Presley was around to keep her company in her animagus form on a full moon, but Presley had a life. Not something Zoë had ever resented her for either. To be completely honest, she was glad her friend didn't have to see her like this every month. Zoë could barely stand to live it, if there was anything she hated more then that it was that her nearest and dearest had to see her in such a horrific, monstrous state. After twelve years, the archivist had never been able to think of herself differently. How could she? It was bad enough that Dominick saw it in dreams.
Lucky for her, she had a lot of people in her life that seemed to care less about the werewolf inside her. For whatever reason, Dominick didn't. Presley and Griff didn't. They were usually the ones that went out with her on the night of every full moon, but when they weren't available to do so she usually made the trip to Vancouver to see Zev. Zev Kauffman was many things. A caretaker for the Agency and a wolf in his own right. He was also a friend and an ex-boyfriend, but that had never stopped them from maintaining a friendship afterward. While they were dating and long afterward, he'd made himself available on these nights once a month when she didn't want to go through this on her own. As much as Zoë didn't like to admit it, after twelve years she still couldn't stand being alone. Some wolf she made.
There was always a distinctive shift, right before the transformation happened. She could always pin point it. There was a shift in energy that always weighed heavily on her more wolf-like senses, and she and Remus instantly became more alert. It wouldn't be long now, the moon would soon rise overhead. Zoë sat on the ground in the middle of the clearing, her body and all her senses experiencing a faint buzz as she carefully removed her shoes and set them to the side. She always remembered to do that, though she didn't know why. It seemed pointless, but she did it anyway. She looked over at Zev, her demeanor entirely somber as it always was during this time. She hated this. "You think most of our coworkers would run in the other direction if they were actually forced to face the truth of this?" It was so easy for people to get along with her when no one else ever had to see her during a full moon. Honestly, Zoë wouldn't blame them for running. It was only natural.
