Who: Jude Hyler and Sam Victorio.
What: Plotting an escape route now that Jude is on a hit list.
When: Monday night.
Where: Cale Penthouse, Seattle, Washington.
Warnings: Who knows. Some?
If there was one thing Max and Logan were good at doing, and quickly, it was go in to panic mode. Of course, panicking had also come with a firm resolution not to leave town. Apparently, Sam and Jude were taking their cues from their other halves. Even though there had to be people looking to whack Jude for the price on his head, they hadn't left Seattle. Sam still hadn't left the Resistance. But they were being cautious. That had to count for something. Besides, it wasn't like anyone else knew where to find the penthouse. With Sam coming here almost every night, they were as secure as they could possibly be. Running off to South America wasn't going to be any safer, especially considering just who might be after them. For all he knew there were psychics or some shit after his ass. Fictional locations were about as good as it got.
He took a last look at the security monitors before wandering back in to the living room. Being on alert here almost felt like routine to him. Jude knew that it only made things more risky, being so comfortable here. If he had been anyone else, he might have gotten complacent. Luckily both he and Sam took paranoid to fun new levels. They were never complacent. Yet they still managed not to run the penthouse like a prison block. Logan had always been good at that. This wasn't the journalists first run in with murder happy psychos, and he'd managed to put a meal on the table every night. Jude was doing his best to do the same. Every part of him that wasn't Logan Cale was telling him to head for the hills, but he was managing to, somehow, hold it together. Sometimes being a reincarnate had it's perks.
The thump from the kitchen didn't startle him, not with Sam in there rummaging for leftovers. He circled around behind her, running a hand up her back to see if that was enough to get her to surface from her hunt for food. Eventually one of them was going to have to leave to try to restock or they were both going to starve. That would be a shitty way to go, when the alternatives were exciting things like sniper fire or car bombs. "Is there anything left, or are we going to have to start spreading ketchup on cardboard?"
