Who: Gandalf (ft. the body of Jason White) What: Being completely baffled by London in general, he returns to Middle Earth. When:Backdated Monday afternoon. Where: London, England then on to Rivendell. Warnings: N/A
Jason White had been a reincarnate for a very long time. He'd adjusted quickly, and had been living as one with his other half almost since the beginning. Never had Gandalf been more grateful for that. For them, the stream of knowledge had gone both ways: Jason had learned magic, and Gandalf had learned that cellphones were not. It had helped them to get on with each other, and kept them both from getting too confused on a daily basis. They taught each other, and prided themselves on being adaptable to any situation.
As such, when he woke up on his own Sunday morning, he did not panic. He knew where he was, and how to use what people living in this world considered every day necessities. It was equally fortunate that Jason's daughter was also a reincarnate, though there was unspoken mutual consent not to ask any awkward questions. Still, he hadn't needed to pretend. Not at home, nor at work, where there were dozens of other people who looked just as out of place as he felt. Adaptable or no, this was not his world. The constant press of noise and smog, the grinding of metal and the blazing lights, reminded him vividly of places he'd never wanted to be reminded of again. He wanted quiet and peace, a place where he could think and possibly figure out just what had happened to everyone's hosts.
After a full day of trying to muddle through Jason's life, he retreated to more familiar territory. There had been a lot of travel to and from Middle Earth already, by curious reincarnates and the occasional former resident. It wasn't difficult for him to get there. The moment he set foot over the border, he could practically feel himself breathing out whatever smoke the machines of London pumped in to the air. It put him mind at ease to walk the old paths, see the old places. Before long, he had come to a decision. He would stay here until Jason returned. And if he did not? Well, no one would begrudge him a little peace.
