Who: Hillary Carter and Fletcher Charleston
What: Hillary's carrying out previous orders on a hit that Josia Hughes gave her before he died. Her target? Her reincarnate's father. Hillary has no idea. Awkwaarrdd.
Where: Outside the Los Angeles MTN and then a few blocks down
When: Late afternoon/Evening, November 20th, 2010
Warnings: Violence! (Natch)
It was just after sunset and the sky was already dark. Hillary had been waiting for countless hours now, she'd stopped counting after four in the effort to keep herself from going crazy. She was beginning to get a cramp in her left thigh from the crouched position she'd been maintaining for about that long, just a few feet from the Los Angeles Agency entrance in the midst of a grove of trees. Why? She was waiting for someone to come back out.
Hillary Carter was a woman of many talents and connections. Among them? She was an extremely accomplished gun-for-hire. That wasn't something she ever publicized, but the right people knew who she was and what she could do. One of those 'right people' had been Josia Hughes, who had contacted her almost a month ago now about settling some accounts. He'd only told her the basics: Fletcher Charleston, ex-CORE turned fugitive turned Resistance traitor and Josia wanted him out of the picture. That was enough for Hillary. She never asked for more then the bare details, otherwise it made the unpleasant parts of this job harder to do. She preferred to keep it simple, it was nasty business carrying out a hit on somebody but it paid good money and she needed it. Being able to afford to keep herself clothed and fed made the sheer uncomfortableness of these situations easier to swallow. With a bottle of Jack to wash it down.
Laurie had never cared for this aspect of Hillary's job either and she made sure to verbalize it often, so Hillary was thanking her lucky stars for Laurie's mysterious absence for most of the week. Even though she almost missed her. At least she wasn't around right now to object, and she would be. Strongly. Hillary hadn't heard from Josia in a couple weeks now but the last thing he'd told her was to track this Fletcher Charleston guy down and permanently take him out so that's exactly what she was going to do. And she'd been following Fletcher for long enough that she knew he had a home and what looked like a wife. That really sucked, and didn't exactly make Hillary feel all that good about herself at the moment, but this was the job. Laurie would definitely be throwing a shit fit right now. Hillary sighed, shifting her weight only slightly so as not to disturb her hiding place as she finally saw her target materialize from the building. Time to get this show on the road.
