To anyone who'd been paying attention to the sky that night, they might have noticed the brief flash of light that hurtled toward the earth at an impossible speed. Most would have called it a comet, unless you'd been close enough to see it actually land. The more superstitious would have said 'UFO', convinced that aliens had finally decided to come to earth and take over. They would have been only half right. The unmistakable form of a woman was what climbed out from the small crater sized hole the impact of the fall had created in the middle of an open field, outside a small town in Kansas. She was covered in dirt and her clothes were in shreds, barely covering her. A curious steam rose from the edges of the crater and bits of earth crumbled and fell around where hands grabbed at the more solid ground to pull herself out.
Any normal person would have been killed instantly from that kind of impact, but then most normal people wouldn't have just survived a three week stint in outer space either. Jennifer Hill was no ordinary person, she was Superman, and she'd finally found her way back.
She only took enough time to shake some of the dirt out of her hair and stretch her muscles a bit before taking off into the sky again. She'd miscalculated a little on the landing spot and there was only one place she wanted to be right now. After making another quick detour to someone's backyard to borrow some clothes off a clothesline, she headed for Boston as fast as her super speed could carry her. She landed precariously on the edge of a small balcony, looking into the apartment of someone she knew. Someone she loved. Someone who she didn't expect to forgive her for leaving, but he was the first person she'd wanted to see upon her return home. Jen stood perfectly still, not wanting to startle him when she finally saw Josh materialize from some other area of his apartment. Her breath caught in her throat and all she could think to do was stare for a long moment, pressed up against the glass before she finally gave it a tiny knock.
