Claire surprised herself a little by what actually came out of her mouth in answer to his question. Abstractly, she knew that she'd thought about it before, being the reincarnate of a vampire made it sort of impossible not to. But literally? It wasn't until tonight that she realized she had actual, serious thoughts about maybe one day becoming a vampire.
It wasn't like she was planning on doing it tomorrow! As appealing as a lot of the upsides to vampirism sounded, there were also plenty of reasons to stay human for as long as possible. Not having to sustain yourself on blood, for one. She could definitely live without that for a little while longer. Also if she ever wanted to like, have kids, that wasn't the sort of thing you could typically do as a vampire. Of course, Caroline had, but you couldn't really count on the same weird, witch-y circumstances of that to happen more than once between life times.
Wanting kids was also not a very real concept to her, after all, Claire was only twenty. She barely had a grip on what she wanted to be when she grew up, so making decisions about kids and marriage and all of that other grown up stuff wasn't high on her list of priorities. No reason to even think about it right now, anymore then she should be thinking about becoming a vampire. All of that could wait. Should wait. But privately, the idea of Léon losing his family one by one over the years while he stayed still in a turning world was almost too much for her to take.
Also not something she needed to dwell on right then, and Raff's suggestion was entirely welcome because she was suddenly a lot more cold now that the alcohol was starting to wear off a little. Which meant it was definitely time for another drink.
"Deal," Claire laughed and hopped down from the ledge herself, a little wobbly on her feet still but mostly in control of her motor functions. As she followed him out of the cold night air and back into the warmth of the hotel, Claire was mostly just excited that she'd made a new friend.
