Who: Leo Sparks and Tabitha Grayson
What: Demigods doing a very demigod thing and stealing their weapons back.
Where: O&R, The Agency, London
When: Backdated to February 14th, 2020, concurrent with Riley's break-in
Warnings: Violence? These two are a little volatile.
Without waiting for the signal, Leo breezed into the Agency building like it wasn't approaching midnight on a Friday. Like the lights were on, the halls were bustling, and he was meant to be there. He wasn't, of course. In no universe would a scruffy young man still wearing his grungy party clothes from three days ago (not to mention a sword strapped to his back) be welcome in a place as professional and upstanding as the Agency, no matter what the hour. But being a Son of Hermes had its perks, chief among them that with one touch and a little concentration? Pesky locks weren't so pesky anymore.
Cameras – still a little pesky, but nothing a little manipulation of the Mist couldn't handle, if that were still necessary for Leo. Thanks to the hacker on the other end of the comm Leo had thrown straight into the trash (not for the first time, either – honestly, why did they keep giving him those things, such a waste) once they'd gotten to London, no mystical shield was needed to conceal Leo and the new girl once they'd split from Riley, going downstairs while the redheaded outlaw went up. Not using the Mist made him feel vulnerable, unprotected, and to make up for it, he'd taken to kicking over the empty trash cans outside each empty office he passed, just for the hell of it.
Leo didn’t bother looking behind him to see if the new girl was following him. He assumed she was, if only because the whole reason they were here was to retrieve something that belonged to her. A weapon of some kind – Leo hadn’t bothered to ask exactly what it was the Agency wouldn’t give her even if she’d asked nicely when she’d finally shown up at Morgan’s rendezvous and mentioned something she needed. Everyone knew the Agency didn’t just hand out weapons anymore, so Leo’s first impulse came out before he could think too much about it.
Let’s steal it.
It killed two birds with one stone. Technically three, if you counted Riley’s side mission, but Leo couldn’t give less of shit about that. For a long time now he’d been itching to get his hands on a weapon of his own, and this was all the excuse he needed to actually get it. Didn’t matter that Luke never wanted to touch the thing again, especially if they found it in scythe-form. There were too many all-powerful reincarnates around, some of them close to gods, some of them actually gods, and some of them just powerful enough that a regular sword wouldn’t do the trick.
If Leo was going to keep protecting kids like the new girl, he needed a weapon that would bite back.
There was only one elevator that went down to Objects & Retrieval, and no physical lock for Leo to bypass on his own once they found it. He pushed the button repeatedly, impatiently, trying to keep his cool for the sake of the new girl, but it was harder the longer he waited. Normally he didn’t bother controlling himself like this, but this mission had yet another objective: Leo needed to know how calm she stayed under pressure, if this was the kind of thing she was really suited for. All the new kids were tested one way or another before Leo decided the best way to hone their skills and send them to join the big kids. This was her test, and he wasn’t about to fuck it up by losing his temper.
Finally, the elevator dinged, and the doors opened as Leo let out an exaggerated groan of frustration. This was too much like the damn elevator to Olympus for Luke’s taste, though at least with this one, the only direction they’d be going was down.
“Honestly. Elevators, so annoying.” He grumbled under his breath and stomped through the doors, heading straight for a corner. Leaning against the metal walls with his arms crossed, he waited for the new girl to join him. “You coming or what?”
