Who: Phin & Riley What: Riley wants to know why he didn't turn her in, but she doesn't believe in phones Where: The Agency, London (more specifically a few blocks from it) When: Backdated to Friday, March 13th 2020 Warnings: TBD but probably nothing major
Was this the smartest plan she'd ever had? Probably not. At the same time, it was pretty genius. To her credit, Riley had thought about it for weeks before actually following through, at least once she'd stopped reeling from the Marian of it all. It wasn't a bad surprise, obviously. Just... a surprise. Riley had always assumed they'd find Marian eventually, that was just the way that reincarnation seemed to work for most people, it was just that she hadn't exactly expected them to find Marian in the middle of her attempting to break into the Director of the Agency's office.
Or that said director would turn out to be Marian himself.
The fact that Marian could be a man had somehow never entered her mind as an option, despite the anomaly that she and Robin were themselves. That wasn't the problem. The problem was more that he was tragically handsome, annoyingly funny, and Marian. Also, the director of the entire damn Agency. For all these reasons plus a few others, she hadn't been totally honest about what had happened that night when she'd had to explain to Cory and Morgan why she hadn't gotten what she'd come for. Which wasn't the end of the world, and at least the other inside mission had been successful, but still. For a criminal, Riley wasn't a huge fan of lying, apparently.
A few weeks went by where Riley actually managed to almost convince herself that staying away from him was the best thing she could possibly do for everyone, but as with most things where Riley was concerned, that resolve didn't last. She'd also spent those first few weeks perpetually looking over her shoulder every time she left the house, but no one ever came for her. Why? He'd seemed like such a stickler for rules, it was hard to believe that after breaking into a reincarnate government building he wasn't going to send anyone after her. She had to know what he was playing at. She couldn't just walk into the Agency, though, at least not looking like herself. Even if he hadn't turned her in, there was no telling what could happen in a world of facial recognition.
She'd have to go in disguise.
Riley walked into the Agency that afternoon dressed like a delivery girl. Polo shirt, baseball cap, the whole nine yards, complete with sunglasses and a blonde wig since her red hair tended to make her stand out in a crowd. Hilariously, getting up to Phin's office was even easier during the day when there was active security running through the place. All she had to do was succeed in slipping past the front desk receptionist when she wasn't looking and make a beeline for Phin's office, and then it was amazing just how many people didn't question you when you were carrying what looked like a bag of food.
Once she got to his office, his door was open, but there was someone in there with him. Riley grinned. Unable to help herself, she walked in and placed the envelope meant for Phin on his desk in front of him while he was distracted mid-conversation. "Delivery for Director Chen," the blonde 'delivery girl' announced in a slightly lower voice, before turning around and leaving the building as quickly as she could without making it obvious that she wasn't supposed to be there. When he opened the envelope, all he would find was a (surprisingly accurate) hand drawn map of the Agency building leading to a small park a few blocks away, with a big red circle over one section of it. Also next to the circle was the letter '- R', written in cursive. That's where she was now waiting for him, on a bench under a tree in the middle of London.
