Who: Kyle Roth & Freya Shepherd What: Their first meeting went so well, showing up unannounced at her place seems like a great idea, right? Where: Freya’s flat in Shoreditch, London, UK When: Backdated to Monday, February 3 2020 Warnings: TBD, maybe they’ll decide to play nice this time, no promises
Getting the shards from the vase that had shattered on his side of their connection hadn’t been difficult. The only real challenge had been finding time to have the pieces analyzed for an origin without Clark’s prying eyes around to interfere or question him, and considering just how much time the department head spent in his labs, Kyle had to get creative. He didn’t know precisely why he’d elected to withhold information regarding the scavenger from him, only that keeping her a secret is what felt most natural to the younger man. So he did. Some forceful convincing of a low level stooge to do the analysis for him had been the easiest part. All he had to do then was wait.
Finally, he had her.
A flat in the United Kingdom wouldn’t have been his first guess, but where she was in the world hardly mattered. All that mattered was that now he could find her in it, without depending on the use of a connection that, unfortunately, went both ways. She wouldn’t be able to close herself off from him so easily this time. This time, he would see for himself, outside the limits of a connection that before two weeks ago, he hadn’t thought himself capable of with another Force user.
The extent of their connection had only lasted minutes, but the events of it haunted him. How he could have been so foolish to open himself up to such an intrusion in the first place. He must have gotten sloppy about his own defenses. She had been able to reach him so easily, and yet he hadn’t felt her again since. Curiously, that bothered him.
Kyle wasn’t accustomed to letting things lie.
He needed to know just how powerful she was. How much of a threat she could be to him. Once her location had finally been discovered and before anyone could question where he was going, Kyle set off immediately dressed in dark jeans and an old black hoodie, his lightsaber concealed at his side. With how infrequently he ventured outside the walls of the Resistance’s compound, someone was bound to notice sooner or later.
Arriving outside her door, he didn't need the Force to hear - and feel - the powerful vibrations coming through a speaker blasting on the other side of it, music of some kind that he couldn't make out. It was likely he wouldn't have even known what it was if he could, and it was only then that Kyle paused. Staring intently at the only thing that now separated them, a thin wall, he felt strangely unsure of his next move. Also curious, but he didn't move to ignite the weapon at his side like he'd thought he would.
