Who: Seth Kane & Aidan Murphy (later Juno Melville, cameo by Ezekiel Gaines) What: Two dumb boys at a circus Where: Where Cirque de L'Imaginaire is set up in CITY NEARISH TO JACKSON When: Saturday, May 18, 2019, afternoon -> evening Warnings: TBD
There wasn't time in Seth's schedule for the circus. He spent too much time working to pack up and drive somewhere just to ride a few rides, play some games, and see whatever acts the place had to offer. He could spare a couple of hours here or there to go work with Aidan while he dreamed, or to do minor repairs on his car that he refused to let Aidan actually pay for when it was just a few minutes out of Seth's time. That was nothing. That didn't put him too far off schedule or short him any money.
A circus was an all day kind of affair, something that you spent a lot of time and money on, and Seth didn't have enough of either to spare. Still, when Aidan had asked him on one of the rare Saturdays that Seth happened to have off, the thought of saying no hadn't even crossed his mind.
Seth had never been to a circus before. Never been to anything like it. The colors and sounds were almost overwhelming; he'd never been surrounded by so many noises in his life. That phantom expectation of not being able to hear out of one ear was stronger than it had ever been and Seth almost covered both of them before he thought about the fact that Aidan was with him. Aidan might not judge him for it, but Seth didn't want Aidan to know that he couldn't handle something as normal as a circus. Something that most people had probably gone to as a kid and enjoyed, and Seth could barely handle the noise of it as an adult.
"So what're we doin' first?" He assumed Aidan had some ideas about it, at least. Something that he'd been dying to do when he'd suggested it and Seth had agreed against all of his better instincts. It wasn't that Seth didn't want to go. He did, more than he was willing to admit even. It was that it seemed like it should somehow be off limits to him, something restricted to people who lived a more normal life. People who weren't Seth. He wanted to pick the most dangerous, most thrilling ride there was, hop right on it to prove to himself that he could handle it. Lucky for him, that seemed like exactly the sort of thing that Aidan would drag him into so he could pretend that he didn't want anything at all. Seth didn't have time for wanting, any more than he had time for a circus.
