Since the official discovery of Sherwood, Riley had spent countless hours and days in the familiar forest whenever she could. It was weird. She'd never really considered herself an outdoors kind of person before. It's not like she hated nature or anything, she'd just never been very big on spending a whole lot of time in it. Not long enough to enjoy a walk or a hike, and definitely not long enough for a nice, lengthy nap in a hammock in the middle of a forest. A forest that was somehow both real and also not real at the same time. Riley still wasn't really sure what to make of it, all she knew was that this forest had been here before their Sherwood, but the Sherwood that Robin knew was a part of this place now too.
They were a part of it.
Little by little since she'd become a reincarnate, Riley had slowly been letting Robin's life into her own. It was an odd mixture of things that didn't quite mesh, except when it did. She was a nobody living in Las Vegas, not some English lord turned outlaw. She was just a Black Jack Dealer who sometimes skimmed off the top, not enough to attract the attention of the House or the players she was scamming, just enough to put a little bit of extra money in her pockets because even on a good night, tips were still shit. After Robin, she'd started giving more of the money she pocketed to people who needed it way more than she did. Her life wasn't exactly glamorous, but she still had a roof over her head. That was more than some people could say, so she was just trying to do what she could with the resources she had.
After that came the archery, which she of course took to naturally thanks to Robin's skills with the bow. If you had told her a few years ago that she would be willingly hanging out in a forest all day and practicing her archery, she would have told you that you were crazy, but here she was. Riley's favorite past time had quickly become a very simple routine of using her days off to make the short MTN trip to England and spending hours in Robin's beloved forest, even going as far as making something that resembled a halfway respectable camp. Better than his had been, but it wasn't the outlaws faults that they hadn't had handy things like modern tools and technology to make a place a little more livable.
With the help of her good friend Noah, she'd managed to successfully string up a few hammocks in a grove not far from where Robin's campsite had actually been. There was also a decent fire pit, some bullseyes put up for target practice, and an underground storage cellar that she'd dug out herself to store anything she might need in a pinch, including the parts for a makeshift rain shelter in case she got caught out here unprepared. One of these days she wanted to actually get some hammers and wood to make a real cabin or something that at least passed for some kind of fort, but that was pretty ambitious for someone who had never picked up a hammer before in her life. Right now the sky was clear except for a few clouds and plenty of sun, so Riley was pretty content to enjoy the open air where she lay in her hammock, one leg with her jeans cuffed at the knee hanging lazily over the side and her arms behind her head as she glanced over at her companion for the day behind her big sunglasses. "Admit it. This is the coolest camp you've ever seen."
