Who: Jonathan Lockwood & Abraxas Vex What: Date night Where: A restaurant in NYC When: Saturday night, March 24th 2018 Warnings: TBD but probably getting a little R rated later
It'd been almost four months since Jonathan and Abraxas had officially started dating, and so far, Jonathan had managed not to ruin anything. He'd been half expecting to screw things up with Abraxas within the first week, but apparently he'd already gotten all of that out of the way before he'd been smart enough to finally kiss the warlock at an Agency Halloween party. He still felt like he didn't really know what the hell he was doing, but whatever he was doing, apparently it hadn't driven Abraxas away yet. Part of him knew he shouldn't be so worried, and he shouldn't have been so surprised to learn that Abraxas was apparently just as forgiving as Magnus could be. If the often horrible ways Jonathan had been behaving that whole time leading up to the kiss hadn't chased him off for good, then his first initial awkward attempts at dating Abraxas probably wouldn't.
And they were definitely awkward. The spontaneous kiss on Halloween was about the extent of Jonathan's 'game', he wasn't exactly smooth. Sure, he could be as graceful as a cat thanks to his shadowhunter reflexes, but that didn't really transfer over into the art of seduction. Not that he was trying to do that either. They'd been taking things slow on purpose, which Jonathan was supremely grateful for. It's not that he didn't want to go farther with Abraxas than just making out on the warlock's couch after a few glasses of wine, he did. He just sort of felt like he was perpetually floundering in their budding new relationship while still mostly following Abraxa's lead, and not having to combat that with the added pressure of moving things between them too fast did actually help Jonathan to relax a little more than he might have otherwise when they were together.
Being with Abraxas was easy. Jonathan might be brand new to this whole being open about your sexuality thing, and to dating in general (though he had yet to mention to his boyfriend just how little experience he really had in that area), but being in a relationship with Abraxas wasn't difficult. For maybe the first time in Jonathan's life, he felt comfortable in his own skin, and in a miraculous turn of events it was with someone else. He honestly never thought he'd find someone like Abraxas in a million years, let alone find him and realize that he was the reincarnate of Magnus Bane, Alec's one true love. For the first time since he'd become a reincarnate, he and Alec were both feeling pretty happy these days, and Jonathan was trying really hard not to do or say anything stupid to mess things up. He was lucky he hadn't done it already, he wasn't going to start now.
Jonathan had lost count of how many dates they'd been on now, he'd stopped counting somewhere around fifteen and after he realized that it wasn't a competition to see how many dates they could go on before they got bored of each other. The answer was apparently never. Even something as simple as going to dinner with Abraxas became the highlight of Jonathan's week, they always had things to talk about. They'd even spent one evening late in the O&R department while Jonathan finished his routine weapons check and called it a date, Jonathan suspected that it might have had something to do with the fact that he'd let Abraxas watch him work out with one of them. There'd also been a lot of kissing afterward. Was anything considered a date as long as there was kissing? Jonathan didn't really know the rules, but if that was true, then they'd had a lot of dates in the Agency break rooms too. This date, at least, felt a little more like what Jonathan had assumed dates would be. They were sitting at the bar of a fancy restaurant, and Jonathan was making a face at the drink he'd just taken a sip of. "You make them better."
