Who: Ezra Abernathy and Irving Midgley What: Ezra's beginning to make a habit of visiting during the holidays. When: December 15th Where: Irving's office, University of York Warnings: Nothing really...probably. I'll update you if anything happens.
For the last month, Ezra had been distracted. It wasn't a huge problem because he didn't have a ton of projects going on at work so it wasn't as if that was suffering. However, he'd spent more time than usual holed up away from everyone else. Undoubtedly Shane would tell him that it was unhealthy and that he was just avoiding reality. And hey, maybe he was. It was the first time since sticking fictional technology into his chest that he'd been given drastically less time rather than more. Somehow it made the ticking time bomb in his chest audible. He could hear seconds slipping away from him with each beat and he was worried. Last year this had all seemed so easy. With five years ahead of them he and Irving couldn't fail to find a solution, even if it was just another extension until they found something permanent. Now that the figure was closer to a year he didn't know that they'd find something and now it was all he could think about.
This time he hadn't flown across the ocean with some dire excuse about stabilizers. He'd taken the MTN, even though he hated the thing and then flown the rest of the way with a lightweight, portable suit he'd brought with him. He could have used Bleeding Edge, but he also recognized that it might be half of his problem. The nanites were a huge power drain really. All this might suggest he'd planned on coming out here, but he hadn't really. It had just happened. Initially, he'd just been going out to clear his head, a quick race around the state, but then he'd found himself at a transport hub and ultimately in York. Before he knew it, he was hovering outside a window, annoyed that it had clearly been locked from the inside.
Ezra tapped on the glass again. Admittedly Irving had mentioned something previously about not using windows to gain entry into the building, but he'd also specified that it was because he didn't want Ezra to be seen. Ergo, if there was no one around, this was now his prefered method. Since it was practically the end of the year, he figured that there would be fewer people around, and also it was dark. The glowing repulsor nodes on his suit didn't exactly lend themselves to camouflage but there was only so much he could do. Besides, if Irving just let him in, it wouldn't be a problem.
"I'm gonna freeze my balls off if you don't let me in, Midget." He called through the old pane of glass. "Do you really want to be responsible for that?"
