Who: Aidan Murphy & Seth Kane
What: Car problems & reincarnate confrontations
Where: Seth's garage in Jackson, South Carolina
When: Backdated to Monday evening, November 6th, 2017
Warnings: TBD?
It wasn't like Aidan used every excuse possible to end up at the garage where Seth worked. Sure, he was handy with a wrench, but it's not like Aidan was a professional mechanic or anything. He tinkered, but when it came to the more complicated stuff, that he left to the ones getting paid to fix cars. Was it his fault that Seth's garage was the only one within thirty miles that was actually worth the money? Not to mention it was conveniently not far from where he lived, and besides that, Seth was just about the only other person besides himself that Aidan actually trusted with his lancer. It wasn't just an excuse to see the asshole more, or at least, it wasn't this time. Aidan needed his suspension repaired. Again.
Mitsubishi's weren't exactly the most durable cars for street racing, but after a little work, Aidan could see why K had liked them so much. With about 170 horsepower normally and a bigger engine to accommodate all of the performance parts he'd put in to double the RPM, he was able to make twice the horsepower and torque in half the time. Aidan's little black Mitsubishi Lancer was the fastest street car in Jackson, and he proved it almost every night, just because he could. Ronan's was still better, but Aidan was partial to his own bucket. The consequences of street racing so frequently, though, mostly meant that Aidan's car often needed work. He knew it was the suspension as soon as he put the key in the ignition again this morning, driving the car to work felt a little like trying to herd cats. It kept drifting during turns, his tire treads were uneven and the nose of his car kept dipping with every stop. He practically had to wrestle it to work, before he had the chance to wrestle it into the garage later.
After a shit day of lugging around heavy concrete (he knew he shouldn't have shown up to work, but Aidan Murphy was notoriously a huge masochist), he'd headed straight to the garage so he could get there a couple hours before it closed. Which meant he'd forgone those basic, human necessities like food and a shower, but he typically neglected the latter anyway when he was supposed to, and eating or not eating wouldn't change his near permanently surly disposition. Aidan did everything on his own time table, which meant that he ate if he ever remembered more or less and his showers usually happened at about three in the morning once he'd finally gotten back from a long night of racing around the old Jackson highways with barely enough time to get any sleep before work, that is if he bothered to show up at all.
The only reason the foreman had kept him on for as long as he had was out of pity, probably. The man was an old friend of his father's and when Aidan had come looking for a job, he'd barely given Aidan the chance to interview for it before he'd handed him a hard hat and put him right to work. If Aidan were less rotten on the inside he might feel a little guilty about taking advantage of the old man's kindness in keeping him on despite Aidan's inconsistency in showing up to work, but Aidan was too twisted up to bother with things like 'guilt' and 'remorse'. He didn't need anyone's pity either, but he also didn't tell his boss to go to hell and quit because Aidan did know deep down that his mother and younger brother could use the extra financial help. So he showed up, more often than not, and maybe even privately thanked his lucky stars that the foreman was willing to be so lenient with him in the first place.
He showed up to the garage, a little sweaty and still dirty from the day's work, not even bothering to put his jacket on over the dirt covered white tank he'd been wearing under his work clothes. It's not like he was trying to impress anybody. It was just Seth. Even deliberately thinking that didn't stop Aidan from subconsciously running a hand through his messy black hair before he stepped out of the vehicle once he'd parked it in the usual spot. Maybe he should really consider shaving it like Ronan's. At least then he wouldn't have to worry about how it looked. Not that he was worried. "Hey, Kane." Once Aidan spotted him, he threw his cell phone back onto the passenger seat almost disdainfully and slammed the driver's side door shut, the out of place looking raven feather that he'd pulled out of his dreams sliding further back onto the dashboard. Aidan didn't know why he'd been keeping it there, he just had. "Miss me?" Because it'd barely been a few weeks since the last time he'd brought his car in. Obviously.
