Anyone else would have called this a plan gone awry; Ezekiel Gaines was not just anyone though. As far as a plan went, Ezekiel hadn't had one when he took advantage of the chance to arrange for Tony to catch him alone. It was more of a spur of the moment decision like most of the best choices of Ezekiel's life and so far it was working out splendidly.
Again. Most people would disagree with this assessment given that Ezekiel was currently mostly nude and strapped to a table in a morgue.
"They're gonna find me. And then they're gonna send your ass straight to hell." It was the voices that were the most difficult for Ezekiel. He could hold a face for as long as he pleased but stolen voices were far more complicated than stolen faces. He'd done extensive research on the one he'd borrowed currently. It hadn't been difficult by any means; David Ryan's face and voice were everywhere and Ezekiel had managed to casually watch him often enough to pull it off credibly. It wasn't only the voice itself that you had to worry about when you were borrowing; it was the inflections, the patterns of speech, any idiosyncracies that would give your act away. Fortunately for Ezekiel's sake Tony's acquaintance with the boy he was obsessed with wasn't personal by any means. Not personal in the way that Ezekiel's obsession with Tony was. Tony wanted David Ryan because he was the reincarnate of one Dean Winchester and it was even simpler to mimic Dean Winchester than it was to impersonate David Ryan. All that Ezekiel had to do for that was a little binge watching.
This borrowed body wasn't so bad. It wasn't his own but Ezekiel didn't care all that much about the familiarity of his own shape. He borrowed often enough that they all might as well be his. He could be David Ryan any time he wanted now that he'd borrowed his face the once. As long as he didn't open his mouth and give himself away with his voice most people would never suspect that there was an imposter in the musician's place. Tony certainly hadn't suspected a thing when Ezekiel arranged to be where the other man could see him while the streets around them were empty. He hadn't seemed to think twice about it before he'd moved and started provoking a fight with the man that he thought Ezekiel was. Ezekiel had, of course, put up the pretense of a fight. Not a real one. Not even close to his best efforts. He didn't want to win. In the context of this little game that he'd been playing with Tony winning was losing because that would mean that he didn't get the full brunt of Tony's attention.
Besides. From all that he'd seen of the Ryans they weren't really that impressive in a fight. He was just behaving in character.
Ezekiel most likely wouldn't have won in a fair fight against Tony anyway. They were very different sorts of demons, himself and Tony. Tony's abilities were far more conducive to the sort of head on fighting that he'd engaged in with Ezekiel pretending to be David Ryan. Ezekiel's were something different. Something far more insidious than that. But oh they could play together so nicely if Tony would just look away from this little boy long enough to want Ezekiel more instead.
Of course then Ezekiel would lose interest in him. That was, after all, what Ezekiel did. He only wanted what he couldn't have. Tony, for the moment, was the pinnacle of things that Ezekiel wanted far more than they wanted him. Greedy thing that he was he couldn't let that stand. Cunning thing that he was he would go to whatever lengths that it took for him to be the thing that Tony wanted most in the world, wanted above all other things. Not sexually of course. Ezekiel wasn't interested in that personally. When he was borrowing a body that was more sexual than his own he might want it on a base physical level but for himself? It was a useful tool. When he needed it.
No, Ezekiel's desires were far more complex than sex. He thought that Tony might be able to satiate them for at least a moment if he would only acknowledge that Ezekiel was far more interesting than the shell that he was borrowing. "Newsflash, dickhead. We always win and you always lose."
