Who: Daniel Morgan & Atticus Drake
What: Atticus bargains for Lucien's safety w/ Resistance enemies
Where: Daniel's office in Camelot Enterprises, London
When: Forward dated to Monday afternoon, January 16th, 2017
Warnings: Nothing major, probably
Most of Daniel's plans for this particular Monday involved being in the castle, so he wouldn't have even bothered making the trip to their London location if it hadn't been for a mysterious, last minute appointment made over the weekend. Daniel had no idea what it was about, other than the vague message the person who made the appointment had left. He could have just passed it off to one of his other department heads if he'd really wanted to, except for the fact that the appointment holder had apparently insisted quite strongly that he speak with Daniel Morgan and no one else. Daniel wasn't usually one to pass off his duties to other people anyway, no matter how qualified they happened to be, he was one of those annoying people who actually believed in doing the work yourself. He even enjoyed it, which was perhaps what disturbed people more, when any other person in their right mind would try to avoid the nuts and bolts of their job position and pass them off to someone below them.
Daniel was one of those rare creatures who actually liked to get his hands a little dirty. Plus, he was morbidly curious. Mostly about the man he had an appointment with, and what someone like Atticus Drake could possibly want with the leader of Camelot. Naturally, Lydia had done a thorough background check on him when the appointment had been made. It was standard procedure, but she'd been especially adamant about it when Drake had so forcefully insisted on speaking to Daniel himself. Daniel couldn't really blame her, considering how many enemies they had, and how many times someone had tried to take him out in just the handful of years he'd been Camelot's sole leader. It spoke to Daniel's frequently bad habit of letting things that affect him personally just roll off his back, while people in his family like Lydia were so paralyzed by the past that they went overboard when it came to personal safety. In Lydia's defense, Daniel really should be more concerned about his own on a daily basis, but in reality, it hardly ever crossed his mind.
Of course, that wasn't true about everyone else in his life. but Daniel never claimed to not be a tad hypocritical at times. As unconcerned as he often was for himself, he was always concerned about other people. His family, his friends, Zane. The people who worked for and bled for Camelot, who sacrificed everything every day for his family's organization, in some case even sacrificing their lives for it. He was always thinking about everyone else, putting other people first before himself, which Daniel knew was a point of frustration with those closest to him, especially when he was putting them before himself the most. There was no one more important to Daniel than the people he loved, if you knew nothing else about the leader of Camelot that might as well already be public knowledge. Daniel didn't view it as a weakness. Some might even argue that staying closely connected to people made you a stronger leader, and he fully believed that. Love wasn't a weakness, it was a strength, and luckily he had people in his family who would be more cautious for him.
After getting Lydia's blessing to take the meeting (though still insisting his personal bodyguard accompanied him to Camelot Enterprises), Daniel and his entourage left for London late that morning. His meeting with this 'Atticus Drake' wasn't until 3 o'clock that afternoon, because of the time difference, but Daniel had plenty of things to occupy himself with in his office while he waited. Finalizing some last minute details for the benefit Camelot was holding later that month, double checking guest lists of those who had already RSVP'd to attend, looking over budgets and catering menus. If we're being honest, he also spent a lot of this time texting Zane intermittently through out the morning, but he still got plenty of things done by the time three o'clock rolled around.
"Mr. Morgan? Your three o'clock appointment is here to see you." Daniel looked up from his desk and nodded at the receptionist. "Send him in." Xander was waiting just outside his office somewhere, Daniel assumed, but he'd previously vacated the room to give Daniel some privacy. Camelot Enterprises was the public face of their organization, they had several offices including one in New York, but London was their main location, newly rebuilt after the bomb that rocked its foundation and destroyed half of it a few years ago. Aside from Daniel's bodyguard, the building itself had plenty of security, but Daniel didn't share Lydia's initial skepticism when she'd first done her background check on the man. What could a pharmacy technician from New York possibly want with him?
