Who: Rose Campbell
What: Searching for her sister.
Where: Everywhere?
When: Friday morning, September 10 2010
Warnings: Nada.
Rose's biggest fear was slowly being realized. She and Severus had both known it was coming. Sooner or later, other people besides her and Otto would start noticing the changes taking place in Sofia, the only thing Rose honestly hadn't been expecting was it would be following a murder. That made Rose a first class idiot. Of course it was going to come to this. Her sister sure wasn't, but the monster in her head was a cold blooded killer and a tyrant. Rose had been a fool to think that he wouldn't eventually make Sofia a murderer too. She had to find her, she had to find her before it was too late. Even if it already was. Rose wasn't exactly thinking rationally at this point.
You need to THINK, Ms. Campbell. The Dark Lord has just risen to power again, what is the first thing he'd do? He'd gather allies. He'd seek out old enemies. He may even seek to find those places which have meaning. If you were to start from scratch, what better place to start from then the beginning?
Snape wasn't going to stop her from searching for her sister, but if she wasn't going to think logically about this, someone had to. And if she wasn't prepared to do what had to be done in the end, if Sofia and her passenger gave them no other option, he would do that for her too. They were both trying hard not to think about the last time Severus Snape had encountered Lord Voldemort. It hadn't ended well, and every time the thought crossed their minds Rose felt instinctively for her neck as phantom pains pinched ruthlessly at her skin. It had only been a few hours since they'd left her and Otto's apartment and they'd already apparated to a number of different locations. Little Hangleton, Diagon Alley, Hogsmeade. With another pop, they had landed themselves in the middle of the Forbidden Forest.
Rose shivered in the cold of the early morning, the first rays of sunlight just starting to peek through and she re-pocketed her wand, pulling the hood of her sweatshirt tighter around her head as she started walking. She was already regretting leaving Otto, and half hoping that he wouldn't let her do this. There was a part of her that hoped he, Erin and Carson would follow her, but the bigger part of her didn't. Rose had always felt ostracized because of who her own head mate was, but now she was ostracizing herself by choice. She was alone in this, this was for her to do and no one else. They didn't understand, because they never did. The burdens Severus Snape and Rose carried were theirs to bear on their own.
Even as she tried to convince herself of all this, she already felt her resolve beginning to waver. If anything happened to Sofia? She'd always be alone. Of course she had Otto, and Rose knew he wasn't going anywhere, but how does someone live without their sister? How does someone live without their own flesh and blood? They were a part of each other, Rose couldn't live without a part of her. If it took her days, even weeks, she wasn't going to stop until she found her, like hell was she going to let anyone else get to her sister first. And if Sofia's head mate was going to take her down, Rose was taking them with her. It was better this way, if no one else was around for that.
