Life for Lucien had, again, taken a sudden turn for the strange. He'd never really planned on taking in a stray dog, anymore than he'd planned on stumbling on one in an alley while on his way to the movies with Francis. Sort of like how he'd never planned on sleeping with anyone when he'd went to Francis's club that night that he was on a mission for Matthias (a mission that had turned out to be a complete ruse, but Lucien wasn't mad about that anymore), and then he'd met the owner himself. Life was funny that way, sometimes things just happened, completely outside of your own control and you had no choice but to go with it. Lucien hadn't thought twice about following Francis back to his room that night, which had eventually led to... this. There were no labels, neither of them were concerned with that kind of thing, but Lucien was staying over pretty regularly these days, along with Percy. Lucien hadn't thought twice about rescuing a poor, abandoned animal from the street either, and now the dog was his.
Of course, it had never been Lucien's intention to have the dog stay with Francis. He'd been keeping Percy at his apartment, since he didn't have any roommates to worry about, but the apartment building had a pretty strict 'no pets' policy. Lucien had been casting a silencing charm around his apartment daily to keep people from hearing Percy, even though Percy wasn't much of a barker you could never be too careful. It still hadn't prepared Lucien for the one day tat Percy had accidentally gotten out into the hallway and the wrong person saw him at the wrong time. Lucien had been pretty close to cursing the person who had reported him to the landlord, but luckily, Francis had been gracious enough to offer to take Percy in until Lucien could figure something else out. Honestly, Lucien hadn't had much luck in that department, the only option he came back to was just to move, because there was no way he was giving Percy up now. He was still weighing his options, but one thing was already decided, he wasn't getting rid of the dog. And no, he wasn't talking about how quickly he'd gotten attached to the happy, white ball of fluff either.
This was nice, though. Coming to Francis's club was always nice, but now when Lucien came here he wasn't just greeted by Francis, he got to see Percy here too. Obviously not the only reason Lucien was still coming over, just an extra perk, but he wasn't going to complain. He also strongly suspected, though he was careful not to say as much to Francis, that Francis himself was getting a little attached to the canine. Francis might play his affections a bit closer to the chest than Lucien did, but Lucien thought he could see it on Francis's face whenever Percy bounded excitedly over to him. Percy and Lucien were only some of the more recent strays that Francis had collected in his club full of other human strays, and privately, Lucien really liked that about Francis. He wasn't someone to be messed with, and he certainly wasn't someone who ever really wore his emotions on his sleeve, but he didn't open his club up to these kids because it made him look good. He did it because no one else would. That, to Lucien, was the difference between Francis and the rest of the world, and he admired it openly. Francis actually gave a shit, he wasn't in it for the credit.
It didn't always happen when Lucien came over, but a few minutes ago their evening had been temporarily interrupted by someone out front needing Francis for something, so Francis had to leave the sanctity of their little bubble in Francis's bedroom in order to take care of some kind of club business. Lucien didn't question it, but after five minutes when it didn't seem like Francis was coming back right away, Lucien decided it was safe enough to pull out his book and read from it for a few minutes before Francis got back. Not that he was trying to hide it from Francis or anything, but the book he was currently reading wasn't exactly... a classic. The fact that it was called The Raven Boys spoke volumes, but Lucien was strangely hooked. Shirtless and reclining comfortably in Francis's bed, with Percy curled up near his arm pit, Lucien opened his book to where he'd left off and started reading. Not that he wanted Francis to be gone for long, but hopefully he had at least enough time to finish off this chapter. Lucien had left off at a really good part.
