Who: Lorne Cameron and Clementine Bennett
What: Asking Clementine for another favor, finding a place for Gemma to hide, explaining things quickly.
When: In the middle of this phone call and after.
Where: Clem's New Apartment
Explaining to Clementine that they had to leave his place in the middle of the night had not been the highlight of Lorne's weekend. There was no way he was sticking around there if it wasn't safe though. Fletcher had sounded almost panicked, and his brother was not the sort of guy who ever panicked, so he was taking the potential threat seriously. Fortunately Clem had just started moving into her new place, so they had a safe place to go that wouldn't involve either ghosts or her father trying to kill him.
Once they'd gotten there, he'd taken the time to explain everything he could about the situation, which was depressingly little. The time for keeping anything from her was long past though. Then there wasn't much else to do but hang around and unpack boxes, attempt to sleep some more, or wait for news. He was waiting. It was only through a feat of willpower that he managed to sit still, instead of pacing like a caged animal. He tried to avoid pacing, it tended to rile up Hamlet, and that was the last thing he needed.
Instead he was staring at his phone, so the second it rang he picked it up, ready to hear the news. It wasn't good, but it wasn't as bad as it could have been. At some point there was a question to be answered though. Fletcher did need help, they needed somewhere for Gemma to hide out.
"No problem. I'll find something. She could always hide out in the castle but I think I've got something better. Hang on."
He hated to even ask. He was going to though. He thought it was the right thing to do, and he thought, hoped really, that Clem would agree. She'd probably be smart to kick him to the curb when this was over, for dragging her into this mess, but she had a heart of gold, and he didn't think she'd turn away anyone in need, no matter how much trouble it might be or how much they might deserve it.
She'd been listening to the call and watching him expectantly. He covered the mouthpiece of the phone and looked over at her. "So, uh, everyone's safe, but there may be a little complication. How sick are you of me asking for favours yet?"
