David was exhausted. After spending most of the prior day and night in what could only be described as the worst case of Bad Tuesday at Black Rock Mystery Spot (basically everything ridiculous about Sam and Dean’s life on a constant loop of bad luck), the next day all David wanted to do was hide from the rest of the world. It wasn’t even really about spending the night getting chased around by all manner of things that went bump in the night, it was the people they’d had to deal with along the way that had made David start to feel like pulling his hair out when all he wanted to focus on was his sister and getting them the hell to safety, he didn’t want to waste time dealing with the regular Halloween weirdos out that night. He was really starting to come around to Dean’s way of thinking in that regard. Demons he got. People were crazy.
They had been spending more of their time at the bunker than anywhere else lately, especially after receiving those creepy, anonymous ‘gifts’ on David’s doorstep recently. Didn’t want to take any chances if it was demons, and they knew where David’s apartment in Denver was. Honestly, David had thought more than once that he should just bite the bullet and give up his apartment entirely. He was barely ever home anymore, all of Cassie’s stuff was at the bunker already, and it would mean not having to pay rent anymore. He could afford to pay it despite spending most of his time elsewhere right now because of the money he was making with REDO, but at some point it was just going to become unnecessary. It was already getting to be a hassle, especially after today. It didn’t really count as a detour when said detour was so out of the way from where they’d started, but David needed his other set of speakers if he was going to get in some good practice time at the bunker. It would only take a few seconds to get it.
“All I’m saying is, the whole Urban Legends thing? Played out. We’ve seen scarier things than Bloody freaking Mary.” David froze with his key in the door knob before he turned to Hannah, looking a little uncertain. “... It doesn’t count if I don’t start saying her name in front of a mirror, right?” David was pretty sure it only counted if it was in front of the mirror and he said it three times, but after the absolute weirdness of last night, he wasn’t prepared to rule anything out. He was still positive that had been an actual chupacabra they’d seen at one point, so seriously. Anything was possible. David shook his head at himself and finished unlocking the door, stepping aside to let Hannah in first before he followed and shut the door behind them, groping along the wall for the light switch. When he found it and the light came on, David winched a little at the state of his ever growing dusty, unlived in apartment. He really needed to just bite the bullet and move out. The thought briefly crossed his mind that David should have been a little more careful about entering his apartment, but he brushed it off as being too paranoid. They would only be here long enough for him to get his speakers and then they could go back to the safety of the Men of Letters bunker and an impatient canine. “I’ll just be a second.”
