Tori’s finals wrapped up nice and neat, almost as if she could tie a bow around all the stress she had spent the semester drowning in. Not that it was over, not by a long shot. She still had work and cheer practice, there was still reading that needed to be done and she knew that the sororities where already thinking about rush week. A few girls had swung by to hint that she should start deciding which one she wanted to join. So much for not going down that path again. Her first summer in New Haven was turning out to be nothing like her past summers in the City. It was busy, more than she had expected it to be. Actually, her summer was starting out pretty awful.
Her shift manager had sent her home after she had snapped at one too many customers, that stupid gossip blog was insulting, she couldn’t find her favorite charm bracelet (and she sucked at locator spells) and, finally, after accidentally shattering the mirror of her vanity, she set the couch on fire. Again. She was simmering in rage and it was only fueling Ambrose or maybe he was fueling her. Whatever the case, she knew she had to get away.
In most cases, home was the answer. She could always go home and her mom was there and things were okay. But she knew that her mom didn’t really understand, at least she didn’t understand what it was like to have Ambrose. And at the moment, Tori couldn’t deal with that. While it was probably the worst place to go for an escape, not that she could think of a better place, Tori ended up at AgriPro.
She never made it past the lobby, rather one of the small love seats and curled up on it. Nobody questioned her, but nobody came near her either. Tori knew the vibe she was giving off was far from friendly. Not that she was known for her bright and sunny attitude. Once she took a few minutes to cool off, she would head upstairs, at least that’s what she told herself. Tori had been planning to make a trip over to see her Uncle about everything that was going on lately and sooner was better than later.
It would be at that moment that everything hazed over, that familiar clarification when her eyes changed color, “fuck.” Tori swore under her breath, pressing the palms of her hands against her eyes. The angrier she became the more control she lost and the more Ambrose was able to take over. At least appearance wise (she didn’t have to check to know that the bow and arrow on her jaw were showing through), anything more, and she had never let anything get that far. “Get it together, Tore.” She leaned back against the cushion and tried to remind herself as to why it would be a bad idea to just let loose.
She heard her name and felt someone come close, “Are you—“ the voice was unfamiliar, the person blurred; she could hear their pulse, the steady beat of their heart. Tori snarled in their direction, shoving the person back, and teleported out of the lobby and onto the floor of her Uncle’s office.
