Who: Jennifer Hill & Mason Sullivan What: A violent confrontation takes a (maybe not so) surprising turn Where: Downtown Manhattan, NY. Well, at least, that's where the fight starts. Superpowers. When: Friday night, April 24th 2015 Warnings: Violence, probably language. Also two enemies deciding to throw down with more than just their fists. TENSIONS COME TO A HEAD, THINGS GET HEATED.
Jen had been having a rough few of months. She was still getting over the whole Bryce thing, which was just another low blow in the long line of romantic disappointments in her life, ironically enough made up mostly in a variety of Batmans. She knew one thing for certain, like hell was she ever dating any version of the dark knight again. Way too broody, and they always ended up with this complete personality-change and ridiculous need to control everything that happened to everyone. And people accused Superman of a god complex. Pass. Still, she'd had trouble getting over it. Moving had helped. She and Alyssa had been squatting in his bat cave after the psychotic Sullivan twins found out the address of their old apartment, but after Jen broke up with Bryce, sticking around seemed a little... awkward. They'd already been settled in their new place for a couple months, so things could be worse. Things could be way worse.
She'd still been going out a lot more. Not on patrol. On the nights she wasn't actively on patrol duty or otherwise just felt like looking for a fight that night, she was going out, mostly to bars. Sometimes she went with one of the girls from the JL, and sometimes she went out by herself. On this particular night, she'd gone out with Emma, but Jen had lost track of her in the last hour after she'd seen her teammate making out with some hot girl in the corner of the small dance floor. Jen wasn't bothered by the abandonment. She'd danced with a few guys, but nothing serious, she wasn't really looking for anything. Just a fun night out, and a few strong drinks. Enough that even someone with Kryptonian genes started to feel a little buzzed.
This wasn't usually Jen's scene, but she'd been really feeling the pressure lately. Between her still pretty recent break up (and the fact that she was definitely on the rebound in a bad way), Alyssa's recent break up that had them both moping in their living room when they had nothing to keep themselves preoccupied with, things with the JL after benching Chris (a direct result of Alyssa's break up situation) and her reluctance to move the team forward while things were still so shaky internally, her work at the Agency taking up most of her daylight hours, patrolling at night that never seemed to actually make a real dent in the criminal activity that still ran rampant around New York... Yeah, Jen was feeling more often than the increasing need to let off a little steam. And tonight, that's exactly what she had been doing.
She was starting to get sick of the constant, heavy vibrations from the speakers on the dance floor so Jen had temporarily abandoned it. Making her way back towards the bar with a mostly empty drink in one hand, she was successfully maneuvering her way through the crowded room when she got distracted by someone shouting... something. She thought maybe they were shouting for help, but she hadn't been listening hard enough. The problem with having super hearing was that she heard everything. Which made it difficult when she was already in a place that was nothing but sounds, a din of noise that left even her ears ringing a little. So it was hard for her to focus in on it and initially assess where the shouts were coming from in all the confusion, when it felt like everyone was shouting. Normally she would have flown off immediately to see what all the fuss was about, but for one thing, she was a little buzzed and not thinking clearly. And two, she was abruptly distracted by another human body full-on colliding with hers. "Oof - hey! Watch where you're-"
