Who: Beverly Reed and Mike Richards What: Surprise! Your sister's a brainwashed psychic weapon. When: Sunday, February 8th, afternoon Where: On board Serenity Warnings: Probably foul language?
Bev hated it when River took over. Hated it. If it had been for a reason, she would have gotten over it. Bev was practical. In a life or death situation, she would hand things over to River without a complaint, because that was their best chance of coming out on the life side of things. The thing was, they weren't in a life or death situation. They were on a ship.
Actually, they were on Serenity, and Bev honestly couldn't remember how they got there. Neither could River, not that it was a big surprise. Bev hadn't even known that Serenity existed, since she hadn't actually gotten around to figuring out if anybody River knew was floating around somewhere. She guessed they must have been; someone had to claim it from the Agency, after all. Somehow, River had figured it out, though, and figured out where it was, and gotten them there. Why? Again, neither of them were completely sure on that one. Here they were, though. On someone else's spaceship.
"And they're going to be so happy to see us," Bev muttered under her breath. They might not hate Bev being there, but turning up unexpectedly? No one liked that stuff. She needs us, River told her. Not just a ship. Metal and memory. "Right, okay, but there are probably people on this ship, and we're intruders. You get that? Of course you don't get that." As far as River was concerned, this was where they belonged, so why would anybody actually care that she'd just popped in? At least she'd deposited them on the catwalk before she'd handed control back over to Bev, mostly safe and away from the areas where she'd expect to run into anybody.
Okay. They'd just get off the ship and find their way home, and as soon as they got there Bev would get on the forums and start asking about other people from Firefly and see if she could score them an actual invite. That was a way better idea, no matter how much River told her that it was okay, the ship already knew they were there.
When River started getting upset, though, Bev knew she had to give in on something. River's temper tantrums were... okay, she didn't want to do that. That would definitely be a bad idea when they were sneaking around on a ship with possible strangers who might get pissed off at them. "Fine. Okay. We'll take a quick look around, and then we'll go home. Okay?" Neither of them were happy about it, but as a compromise, it worked. "Right. Here we go."
