Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend!  Next Entry
Who: Scarlett Jones & Timothy Bertram
What: Meeting her newest charge
When: Backdated to Friday, October 24th 2014
Where: Hospital in Washington, D.C.
Warnings: TBD? Probably just some crazy.

After a full week of officially being back at work, Scarlett was finally getting into the swing of things again. Coming back from that reality warp hadn't been easy. She'd spent a large portion of those first few days directly after with her knees hugged to her chest and trying not to blow up her entire apartment with her mind. She mostly succeeded, aside from the incident Colt had walked in on where most of her things had ended up floating somewhere closer to the ceiling. It hadn't been easy but she'd managed to get most of her furniture back to where it was before her telekinetic abilities had gone haywire. That, coupled with the memories of being gutted by Frankie and her and Jean's collective distress over reliving the Phoenix made it very difficult for Scarlett, mentally speaking. The emotional distress had made her temporarily short circuit, her telepathy going rogue and to be honest, she very easily could have been committed that week if anyone else but Colt had actually seen her.

She wasn't proud of it. As the Director of Caretaking, she was supposed to be more stable, to have more of a handle on things, and usually she did. But she'd never experienced this sort of thing before, and it had thrown her. She could admit that much. At least now she knew how to better prepare herself in the future. If it ever happened again, she would be ready for it this time. She wouldn't lose it again like that. Despite how she'd crumbled, Scarlett was still confident enough in her coping abilities to believe that wholeheartedly, and that's where she counted herself lucky. That's how she knew she was still fit to perform her job, because she had the ability to recover and move on. Some reincarnates weren't so lucky, they hadn't had the chance to develop those tools yet. Many of them currently under charge. Some of them were her charges.

Timothy Bertram. Her newest charge, assigned to her while she was on brief leave and Connor was in charge, but he'd left this case for her. She still arguably had the most experience (personal and caretaking) in dealing with unstable reincarnates like this, especially when the host themselves wasn't the most mentally sound. She'd read over his case thoroughly and multiple times before going to meet him, not wanting to screw anything up. This was a delicate case, and only half because of the host's reincarnate. The man himself had just spent years in captivity as a prisoner of war, and Scarlett knew this had to be handled carefully. Once she arrived at the hospital, she signed in on the visitor's chart and waited to be allowed into his private room, knocking softly on the inside of the door once she was in order to make sure he knew she was there. "Sergeant Bertram?"
