Who: Morgan Lang & Cory Guevera What: You shouldn't leave your window open if you don't want visitors When: Friday night, September 5th 2014 Where: Cory's apartment in Queens Warnings: Probably not anything too crazy?
Morgan was bored and decided to take Ryan's advice, despite rarely if ever taking Ryan's advice on anything. She liked to say that she'd rather poke her own eyes out with hot irons then follow his suggestions, which always made for an interesting work environment. Still, he'd had some pretty good luck during his brief stay in Manhattan, so over the weekend Morgan had decided to take a little holiday in New York. She didn't always have to be stealing for their security company, sometimes Morgan had an itch to steal just for herself. She didn't stay long in Manhattan, though. Too noisy, too busy. She preferred a quieter scene for which to commit her crimes. Morgan found herself in one of the lesser visited boroughs after dark sometime around 10PM. There were neighborhoods in Queens that were downright deserted after a certain hour, and she appreciated that. Now she could actually work in peace.
Casing a neighborhood she wasn't already intimately familiar with was hard. It was easier with the security company, she actually had a good excuse to get up close and personal. Max's weird night vision thing only helped in seeing what was immediately there, she didn't know who was home or if the people living there were actually smart enough to have a silent alarm system. Morgan spent a fair bit of time crouching on a roof looking down at nearby apartments until she spotted something shiny. Through the wall of an apartment across the way, her eyes spotted a beautiful looking sculpture. Egyptian? Morgan narrowed her eyes to make out the faint shape of Isis: goddess of magic, marriage, healing, and motherhood. She also orchestrated the death of the freaking sun god, which was pretty cool. Morgan had a thing for kick ass women who rock.
Having already decided she was going to do it, Morgan backed up a few steps and took a running leap, clearing the gap and landing in a crouch on the opposite roof. She'd seen an open window leading into the same apartment, right next to a fire escape. This couldn't have been easier if she'd actually planned it. She was easily concealed by shadows, dressed in dark blues and blacks including a black beanie on her head. She'd just slip in and out, no one would even know she'd been there. Using a grappling hook to lower herself to the fire escape she touched down silently on the ledge. With a few more stealth maneuvers she was in through the open window and dropping down into a darkened hallway. So far, so good. No sign of any alarms. She crept along the wall until she rounded a corner and saw it. The thing she most coveted. Bingo.
Taking a quick look around for any signs of life (there was a small sliver of light shining through a door ajar at the other end of the hall, but Morgan was confident if anyone was in there they hadn't heard her), she eagerly made a bee-line for the statue and picked it up off the table in her gloved hands. It was beautiful, about nine or ten inches and the gold was perfectly untarnished. She had what she wanted, now all she had to do was get out before anyone noticed an intruder. Morgan smiled smugly with a soft whisper to herself. "Piece of cake."
