Who:Jate Morgan Kennedy and Matthew Russell When: Monday night Where: Miami, Florida What: In the wake of the LOST series finale, Morgan and Matt finally uh, find some common ground... at the bottom of a bottle or two. Rating: P-13 just to be safe? Scratch that, a solid P for Polar Bears! Not that there will be any in this thread... we don't think...
To say that Morgan had been expecting the various things that had come out of watching the LOST finale would have been a complete lie. She'd sobbed through the entire episode and had never been more grateful that Emma had chosen that night of all nights to sleep soundly, she wouldn't have been able to deal with them both blubbering. And then those awkward scenes with Jack and Kate... Awkward. Morgan just plain didn't know what to do with them, what to make of them or the way they'd made her feel. Awkward was one way, but the rest... She honestly didn't know what was going on, but she was inclined to blame Kate for it. After all, she hardly knew Matt, they'd never even technically met before, not in person. But from the beginning, ever since Matt had shown up on the boards, every attempt Morgan had made to hate him had failed miserably. Again, she blamed Kate. Kate was the one who had feelings for Jack, Morgan didn't. So it made sense that watching the last episode triggered even stronger feelings for her head mate, but still, it was annoying.
It was especially annoying because it made her, Morgan, nervous as well. She actually had butterflies (for gods sake) in her stomach as she was getting ready to leave, and she kept ordering Kate to calm down but she didn't and neither did Morgan. Whether they liked it or not, (they being mostly Morgan), this wasn't just a casual hang out with some random. No, Morgan was about to go spend the evening with the reincarnate of the one man that Kate had never been able to let go of. That was frightening on many levels, but it didn't deter her. As much as she loved Emma, she was glad for the night away from motherly duties and especially glad that Todd was away on business again, it really seemed that the less they saw of each other, the better they got along when he was home. How pathetic that actually was. She didn't dwell on it though, so after she'd finished getting ready she'd dropped Emma off at her mom's and went on her merry way to the nearest MTN.
Before Morgan knew it she was in Miami, (why she had chosen a place in the tropics was beyond her, was she seriously getting nostalgic about her own show already?) sitting in a booth in the back of probably one of the ritziest dive bars she'd ever seen. She was on her fourth tequila sunrise and things were starting to get a little hazy. And Matt was a riot, sure he provoked quite a few chuckles from her over the journals (which she'd never admitted to, of course) but in person, he was ten times as hysterical to her. Again, she was solely blaming Kate for this, somehow it was her fault they were getting along so well. Laughing at something he'd said and wiping a lone tear out of the corner of her eye, she grinned in his direction as she took another drink.
"You know, in retrospect, if we were gunning for Island themed we should have gone to Australia. Though that might have been tempting the fates a bit too much?"
