Who: Adam and open to X-Factor
What: Sometimes, it's just easier to show up and act like you belong than to ask the other kids if you can play in their sandbox.
When: Friday night
Where: X-Factor Investigations
Adam didn't know why he kept coming back to X-Factor Investigations. Bored, maybe, or he'd just gotten a taste for being around other people again. Connor had invited him, the first time, and let him in; he'd never said that Adam wasn't welcome back. In fact, he'd threatened to put him to work. He hadn't, but that wasn't exactly a "never come back here again" in Adam's opinion. Of course, it wasn't a "drop by any time you want" either, but he was pretty sure that he'd have been welcome, if he'd just asked.
Adam didn't want to ask, though. Asking gave someone a chance to tell you no. Adam was a grown man, he could handle the word no, but that didn't mean he liked the idea. If he kept turning up, he figured that maybe everyone would assume that someone else had invited him there. So far, it seemed to be working okay. No one had asked what the hell he was doing, anyway, or tried to kick him out. He'd fixed a couple computer problems, watched Quinn do her filing, figured out ways to keep himself entertained.
There wasn't anything that needed fixing at the moment, so Adam was kicked back with a newspaper. No one was around, right then, but sitting around the office was better than sitting around in his empty apartment, with no company but Rictor.
