Who: Fletcher Charleston, Gemma Davenport and (later) Abigail Roth. What: Fletcher is a stalker, Gemma is on patrol, and Abi is an eavesdropper? (AKA Fletcher and Gemma get busted) When: Friday night. Where: Gotham City, New Jersey Warnings: Average.
Ever since Gemma had told him that she had joined up with some team of wannabe superheroes, Fletcher had been concerned. Not only had it made her a lot more testy when it came to him and his dealings with the Resistance, but he had no idea what she was really up to when she went off to Gotham City to do whatever it was she did for them. He didn't like not knowing what she was up to, especially when he factored in some of the newer recruits to the Resistance. He didn't know them, but he knew where they hailed from and what they were capable of. Having her wandering around on what they might consider their territory did not bode well.
Which was why, when he saw her leave for the evening to take the MTN across the country, he followed her. This was probably one of those things that she would frown at him about. Fletcher didn't care. He'd promised to do whatever he could to protect her, and if that meant wandering around Gotham City after dark, then so be it. He'd been a masked vigilante once. He should be able to fit right in. Biding his time, he handed over Lorne's old ID at the MTN office and jumped after her, arriving somewhat befuddled in New Jersey.
Now he just had to catch up with her, and either stay out of sight, or come up with an explanation as to why he was there that wouldn't piss her off.
It didn't take him too long to find her patrol route. For awhile, she was with another woman. The two of them managed to avoid running in to any trouble, which was handy. If he'd gone blazing in to save the day when she was there with her partner, things wouldn't have ended well. Not that he thought he would have to. Gemma was more than capable of taking care of herself. No, he was just there to make sure nothing went wrong.
When Gemma sent the other woman in a different direction, Fletcher weighed his options. If she found out he was there and he didn't say anything, he might be in more trouble than if he just admitted to it. 'I was worried about you' sounded a lot better than 'shit, you weren't supposed to catch me here'. Besides, the idea of her wandering around out here alone irked him. He waited for a few more moments before stepping out behind her, hands in his pockets and as casual as could be. "You really shouldn't split up like that. You never know who might be out here."
