Characters: Sophie Ross (Tris Prior) & Jethro (Tobias Eaton)
Date: Sunday 2nd March
Setting: The diner where Sophie works
About: a random encounter with bonus reunion
Rating: TBA, but possible language and talk of character death & other bad stuff
Waitressing wasn't the most glamorous job in the world, but most of the time Sophie didn't mind it. She'd changed since acquiring Tris, but there was a part of her that craved socialization. Maybe carrying plates and dealing with assholes who thought it was okay to slap your ass sucked, but Sophie got to meet all kinds of people, too. Some of them even had cool stories to tell. Sophie liked hearing their stories, even when Tris decided to inject her own commentary into things. At least by now Sophie had grown used to that voice in her head. She didn't answer her out loud in front of other people, anymore. Today, the diner was dead, though. No cool stories to get her through the hours and the state of her tips was just sad. Sophie wiped down the counter for about the twelfth time in an hour, desperate for something to do. You need to cut our hair again, Tris nagged from within moments later when Sophie pulled the elastic free so that she could redo the loose ponytail she wore it in for work. Sophie rolled her eyes. They'd had this conversation before. Tris liked it short, but Sophie had been debating just letting it grow out. It had been long once - in Tris' past as well as her own - and sometimes Sophie missed that, even if she looked older with it all chopped off. Getting carded all the time was a bitch, but you couldn't braid short hair or wear it up or do much of anything but always wear it the same way every day. "I like it long," she muttered simply. No one was here to overhear her. She was the only server on at this time of day or the only one on the floor, at any rate. The tinkling of the bell over the door pulled her out of her thoughts and Sophie was surprised to see a face she recognized. "Hey, you're that guy from the Network," she said. "Jethro, right?" Unless he had a twin. She couldn't help but smile a little. "Booth or table? You can have your pick of the place," she added, as if suddenly remembering she had a job to do. |
