WHERE: Starting by the Hollywood Hills, ending at Camp Half-Blood.
WHEN: Saturday Evening, 11/23
WARNINGS: Violence probably. Possibly language.
Xander knew through Percy's memories the second-hand feeling of taking a bath in the Styx. He'd always imagined what it looked like to go through the Underworld (and not Tartarus, thank you future), but all of the sensations had always been experienced first by Percy, and by Xander as if through a drunken haze. He felt it but didn't feel it; it was muted. And because of that, it hadn't fully prepared him for the actual feeling that the Styx brought on.
There was a reason it wasn't a task taken on by people every day of their lives. The cost and the benefits seemed equal, especially when submerged in the dark depths. The pain that wracked his body in the middle of it made him feel as if he were dying--which was practically what he was doing, in reality--and he wanted to say 'forget it' in the middle of the experience. While Percy had concentrated on the small of his back, protected by armor during battle, Xander had decided to take a page out of Luke's book; the crook in his arm pit, simultaneously blocked by armor and his arm, nearly impossible to hit during a battle. He needed to be as safe as possible when he and Tess were counting on the curse to help them defeat a god.
After climbing (finally) back onto the banks and taking some time to cough and sputter like and idiot, they finally climbed out of the creepiness that was the Underworld and through a crevice near the Hollywood Hills. They bypassed the main entrance for one that Percy could remember Nico telling them about once upon a time to avoid any possible tolls and three-headed demon dogs. Xander personally had never been more thankful to see the the setting sun in the distance and his trusty pegasus, Blackjack.
"Heeeey buddy," Xander grin, moving past the one Tess had been forced to ride there (she definitely wasn't happy with him over that one) to pat Blackjack's nose.
Hey Boss! Got worried for a second.
"Over us? Nah. We're good." Xander turned back to Tess, Blackjack's wings ruffling and causing wind that blew pieces of his hair up. "You ready to do this?"
