There was something to be said for the City of Angels.
Mikael's life had oftentimes been surrounded by the mythology of the very creatures. Mikael, a derivative of Michael, the archangel, was destined to take up the helm of Lucifer — there was no denying the bitter irony of the matter. Now, he resided in the City where it was said even Angels couldn't bear to watch. It would hardly surprise him; where Lucifer laid his head to rest, nothing good was to follow. That was simply the way of the world. Nothing more, nothing less.
This evening, however, was not one for dwelling on wings and halos. It was a time for rest, relaxation — gathering his bearings. The jolt into the future was somewhat unexpected, but he had learned long ago never to underestimate the powers of their little community. Even the youngest reincarnate could hold infinite power in its grasp. It was simply a shame it was wasted on something so lackluster.
His fingers danced over the keys. Beethoven poured throughout the walls of Lux and washed over its inhabitants. Some were familiar, some were brand new. They attracted a bizarre crowd, but they were never unwanted. Some had words to exchange with Mikael, while others hadn't the faintest idea who he truly was.
As his piece came to a close, applause was given and he took his bow. There was not a word spoken as he settled down at the bar, waving two fingers at the man behind the counter. The man nodded, setting to work on a drink that was no longer necessary to call out by name. Mikael grinned and when it was handed in his direction, he tipped the glass in a subtle cheers. Turning slightly on his stool, he observed the next entertainer. A small girl with a red dress and a voice as fiery as her hair. The chords of her song began to play and Mikael awaited his next order of business.
There was no rest for the wicked.
