Who. Eddie Parks + Wesley Roberts.
What. Tag, you're it, buddy.
Where. Above New York, then possibly Stark Tower.
When. Friday morning.
Warnings. Sass. Lots of sass.
Staying under the radar wasn't really something Eddie Parks could do in spades. It was more like him to make his presence known about as soon as it was in the line of sight. Unfortunately, Tony wasn't exactly feeling his cheeriest when it came to The Avengers. Knowing that another version of himself had died just a few months or so previous? Well, let's just say it wasn't getting any easier to sleep at night. It felt like looking at a photograph of yourself, from an angle you weren't accustomed to seeing. Tony Stark didn't feel like himself.
Maybe that's because these days, he wasn't just himself anymore.
The suit was one of the only things that made life maintainable. It was real, corporeal. He could touch it and know that somehow, some way, he was anchored. That there was his tether. It was no Pepper, no person he could hold and get lost in for hours at a time, but it was his. Right about now, Tony was desperate for anything that was his. Something he knew wasn't about to slip out of his fingers any time soon.
That's where the touch-ups came in. When Eddie wasn't busy schmoozing with casino owners or hacking into Avengers' databases, Tony was tinkering. It wasn't obsessive, but it wasn't healthy, either. Remodels came and went, and after several tries, things were beginning to feel as normal as they could possibly get for the billionaire. Eddie, on the other hand, didn't know how to take all of this. To this day, he was still lost somewhere along the line. Like he was still asleep and everything else? Just a dream.
Stepping into the suit was like coming home. Eddie felt it, too. He'd flown around the Garage, done his fair share of driving out over the ocean, but it was never too far a stretch so that Tony couldn't put them right back around. Today, Eddie decided, he would change that.
You sure about this, kid? Tony sounded more amused than he did cautious. Eddie snorted to himself, feeling the metal enclose around him. What was first claustrophobic now felt like another layer of clothing. He grinned, and if the face-plate could do the same, it might have joined him in doing so. "Please. I am Iron Man, remember?"
Uh, actually. That would be me. You're just, you know, along for the ride. Eddie licked between his lips as the visuals appeared before his eyes, illuminating their color. "Then you better buckle up, Stark." Without a second thought, the suit was elevated, hovering over the floor. "You're taking passenger seat today. JARVIS?"
"Yes, sir?"
"Let's rock and roll."
