Who: Chase Ellis, Emma Bailey, Josh Kissick, & Holly Strange
What: Patrolling Gotham City, as masked vigilantes do.
Where: Gotham, NJ
When: Monday night, April 1st, 2013
Warnings: GOD ONLY KNOWS.
Chase still wasn’t entirely convinced this was a good idea. Patrolling with Emma? That he could do in his sleep – though he’d never actually sleep on the job, of course, fighting crime with her was just so natural for both of them that, most nights, it was pretty straightforward. Easy, even. Muscle memory took over, Tim and Steph’s thing became Chase and Emma’s, and GCPD had a whole new passel of crooks to throw in the clink before dawn every time they went out. They were a good team, him and Emma. A great team. A dynamic duo, if you will.
One thing they weren’t so great at, though? Babysitting. At someone’s suggestion (AKA, their fearless leader), their duo had become a quartet tonight, and he and Emma hit the streets with two of the JL’s newest recruits: Holly Strange and Josh Kissick. Black Canary and Green Arrow, respectively. Holly didn’t worry him so much, considering he’d been the one to recruit her in the first place, but Tim knew – just like everyone in the DC universe knew – that while Dinah and Ollie were a heavyweight team, that team came with a lot of baggage, and a hell of a lot of volatility. Ollie was impulsive and unpredictable, something that made any self-respecting Bat and/or Bird twitch, and so far? Josh seemed to be trying way too hard to be exactly like Ollie in those respects. Or he wasn’t trying at all. Which, if anything, was even more worrying.
How do you solve a problem like Green Arrow? Tim grumbled to himself as Chase swung between two buildings, using the momentum to vault over a ledge and onto a rooftop, following the trail of signature arrows in the alley below like breadcrumbs. They’d lost Josh about five minutes ago, when he took off on his own after some freaks in a clown car. Actually, correction: after he jumped on the roof of said car, yelling like a cowboy, and the clowns took off with him. Chase had sent Holly and Emma in opposite directions in the hopes of corralling their prey and their accidental stowaway a few blocks over, where hopefully a construction site would serve as a dead end and block their escape, but so far, he couldn’t tell if it was working. This was not how tonight was supposed to go. April Fools?
“Canary, Eggplant,” Chase huffed into the comms, running across the rooftop, shooting his grapple gun across the street, and leaping off the ledge. “Either of you got a visual on Arrow?" He would've asked the wayward archer himself, only the idiot had either lost his comm or forgotten to turn it on. Helpful. "He’s not on 5th and Dale!”
