WHO: Kieran McKinnon, Cassie MacMahon WHEN: Friday night WHERE: Capitol Club in LA WHAT: Cassie's working, Kieran's looking for a drink. A little random interaction.
Friday nights at a bar, no matter where it was, tended to be incredibly busy. Throw in the LA location and you had the recipe for a mad house, and that's exactly what was going on that night. The club was crawling with people demanding attention from those tending bar, and Cassie barely caught glimpses of her coworkers through the mass of bodies. At one point she thought she saw Christian struggling with a bin of dirty glasses as some drunk girls continuously jostled into him. The entire night was just utter chaos--but at the end of it, the pay out would be worth it. Or, at least, that's what she kept telling herself whenever a crude comment was thrown her way by a drunken hipster waving a ten dollar bill.
Two years ago she never would have imagined her life being this way. Then again, the girl from two years ago was practically unrecognizable when compared to the same girl tending bar (illegally, technically, but nobody need know that). It was funny how becoming a reincarnate for some people turned things drastically for some people. Getting Sam had forced her to grow up a bit, and harden herself against pain. She went from a loudmouthed journalism major to a hardcore hunter in what seemed like just a few months. Now it was all she knew; crashing on Justin's couch, hours of research... It was all just a typical day. And shooting a gun was practically second nature. She didn't even argue with the voice in her head quite as much anymore.
But mostly there was paranoia, and it was everywhere. A girl with curly blonde hair had ordered a sex on the beach, and Cassie cheerfully made it with a little extra--a dash of holy water out of a flask on her belt. She did it every night in an attempt to weed out the demons from the normal patrons, and so far hadn't had cause to come clean to Jessica that she was doing it. There hadn't been a demon yet. They were being eerily quiet ever since Austin's death. To Cassie that meant they were planning something big, but right then she had to focus on work.
"Enjoy." She plastered on a fake smile as she passed the alcohol over the counter and took the girl's cash. The tip got shoved into her apron while the rest went in the register before she made her way over to a familiar face. Guy came in a lot, but she'd never got his name. There wasn't much need to. "What'll it be?" She shouted over the noise.
