Who: Ann Thomas & Jimmy Lannigan What: About that left-handed thing... Where: Ann's place When: Sunday Warnings: TBD
Ann had been distracted the last few weeks. The decision not to sell her parent's home had meant that she was often running around filling out paperwork and engaging the sort of mundane activities that almost made her wish she was back in a war zone. Things had become further complicated when she decided to all but raze the house and make it new. She'd spent a lot of time on the phone arguing with contractors, a nasty tiresome business that had left her aching to put their heads through the wall. Jimmy's request had come at the perfect time. It was a distraction and Ann had been distracted enough by everything else to not think too hard about it when she agreed to help.
Jimmy had a way of making her insides turn into knots. Jimmy had a way of making her lose her temper in two seconds flat. Jimmy was as maddening as he was inescapable. Much as she'd like Brienne to shoulder the burnt of those feelings that wouldn't have been fair.
The only complete part of her extreme home makeover project was the barn turned gym. Ann spent most of her evenings here, working out her aggression and refining the skill set that Brienne had lived and breathed. She spent so much time here part of her wondered why she was still bothering to work on the house. And now, with helping Jimmy it didn't feel like she ever left and she was strangely okay with that.
Their sparring had taken a painfully awkward turn. Learning to fight left handed meant starting from square one and both Ann and Jimmy were far too seasoned to make starting over easy. Not that either one would be giving up soon. Frustrating as this may be Jimmy felt it necessary and Ann...Ann wouldn't quit.
She disarmed him easily enough and followed up by knocking him off his feet. Ann hadn't even broken a sweat yet but there was no need to rub that in his face. Instead she offered a hand to help him back to his feet.
