Who: Sebastian Hunt, Betty Peabody and the new Camelot Babies
What: Primary training weekend!
When: Friday and for the majority of the rest of the weekend.
Where: Meeting in Chicago and then moving on!
Warnings: TBD (There's a WHOLE lot of speech as the intro...just so you know.)
It seemed that the threat of failing the training course had worked so far. Everyone had arrived on time, fairly early in some cases, which meant they were all able to jump to their next destination right on schedule. As far as he was aware, no one really knew where they were going. Betty at least had it narrowed down to a continent, but for everyone else it was going to be a surprise.
On the other side of the stomach churning jump, the air was humid and cloying. Having been here a couple of times over the last week or so, Sebastian was now used to the climate change, even though it was still uncomfortable to being with. He knew what to expect. The room was fairly open, and the staff in the building had kindly vacated for a time while they went over the preliminaries. Sebastian slumped onto a table that was currently stacked with gear, and nodded to a row of lockers behind him. "Right kids, welcome to the Amazon, and this is where you'll be spending the next few days. Anyone that brought anything they don't want to be dragging through ass loads of jungle, leave here in the lockers. Anyone who didn't bring attire or shoes that you won't die in, I've arranged for suitable clothing and you can change into it, leave your stuff in the lockers."
"You'll notice I have a bunch of kit bags here for you, which include a few things to help you on your way. You have flares and a radio in case of emergency, rations, bottled water, equipment to make fire, map, compass and some simple cooking items. Radios are shared with your group, which I will be telling you about in a minute." He paused and looked at them all. Thank crap for bottled water. He was feeling much less like he wanted to tell them how sorry he was that they'd got involved in all of this. "Some of you may have come here thinking this was going to be combat training, or God knows what. Some of you might be wondering just what the hell you've signed onto, especially with the past week. Well firstly, this isn't combat training. That doesn't mean it's not dangerous. Secondly, I wish I could tell you that we always knew what we're dealing with, but we don't. We have suspicions, but no definitive answers just yet, and that's how it often is. You're here, because you've made some sort of moral judgement that this is the right side to fight for. Whatever the reason, you've joined Camelot, an organisation that until recently was fighting one of the longest running wars of all time. Apparently, something is still being fought, and whether it's a war or not has yet to be decided...but if it is, you're going to find yourself being a target sooner or later."
Sebastian smiled at the group before him wryly. "So, to make sure you live as long as possible, I want you all to start thinking that way. Being in Camelot, makes you a target. So be fucking careful. This weekend is about keeping your wits about you, and, I cannot stress this part enough, it's about team work. We rely heavily on the people we work with, for different skills or help with research. Whatever it is, you need to be able to work with other members of Camelot. You'll be in small teams of three or four, and your goal will be to find and capture myself and Betty. We'll be starting about six kilometers east of here. The area is marked on your team maps, so you'll start making your way out there once we leave."
"Teams are as follows: Alex, Lucas and Allison, you're team one. Claire, Deacon and Coral. Team two. Team three is Daphne, Tom and Kim. Abigail, Rafe and Todd are team four, and Hannah, Bailey, Oliver and Carson make up team five. We will be supervising you from a distance, and we'll be able to get to you quickly should any problems arise, but do be aware that this is a jungle you're going out into. There's dangerous wildlife out there, so don't do anything stupid like touch the spiders and frogs. Avoid the water if possible because there's piranha and caiman around, and there's also anacondas and jaguars out there. Most of these things won't attack you because you're too large, but don't get sloppy. I don't want to take half of you back to Miri's clinic. So look out for your group mates. Got it? Good. Start getting your shit together." This was going to be an interesting weekend.
