Who. Thomas Taylor & Derek Greenslade What. The inevitable show down Where. Manhattan, New York When. Forward dated to Tuesday night, Febuary 12th 2013 Warnings. Lots of violence and a character death
There wasn't a whole lot that got to Thomas. Generally he was a pretty easy going guy, even with the burden of great responsibility on his shoulders thanks to Peter. But lately? He hadn't been able to get that ominous dark cloud out from over his head, which only made it worse the longer Kylie had been away. Logically Thomas knew it was for the best, Kylie needed to be with her sisters after the loss of their mother, but Thomas had never felt so useless. He hadn't been able to do the only thing that mattered, which was protecting Kylie from having to lose someone she loved. He hadn't saved her mother, and even though he knew rationally that putting that guilt on himself was pointless, he couldn't help it. He hadn't even been in that fight, Alex had, but that was what bugged him the most. Alex had been fighting the Green Goblin, not him. It should have been him fighting Derek. Peter Parker had a lot of responsibilities riding on his shoulders and one of them was making sure his enemies didn't hurt innocent people. Mrs. Kensington had been an innocent, and Thomas had failed to stop the reincarnate of Norman Osborn from taking her life, as well as the lives of others.
Thomas Taylor? Thy name was Spidey failure. But that didn't mean he wouldn't keep fighting. He was practically throwing himself into it these days, looking for any excuse to pull on the mask and go out for a little web action. Tonight was no exception, except this time he didn't have to go swinging through every alleyway in the city just praying to spot a mugging he could foil like he'd been doing for the past week. (And yes, he was temporarily ignoring just how twisted it was that he was actually hoping for crime to be committed, the boy really needed a big distraction.) He'd first heard the 911 calls over the police scanner and hadn't wasted any time before suiting up in his new apartment and heading out into the city. He had a room in the Avengers mansion, sure, but right now it felt a little weird to be there with everyone else. He hadn't known Stu Rice as well as some of the others had. Crashing in on other people's mourning just felt too weird. Also, staying here meant no one would ask him where he was going when he went out on his own to fight the dirty criminals of New York City.
It took less than an hour. Spider-man arrived on the scene as a band of only somewhat competent men in masks attempted to rob a room full of the rich and privileged at a charity event. Apparently, someone's recent crimes had inspired a whole host of wannabe-villain copy cats. The whole thing made Thomas sick, but he did his job. Disabled the armed robbers, webbed them all together in a nice group hug, reassured the panicked guests in black and white, and left. Now he was on top of the roof, looking out at the ground below and watching as the cops led the offenders out one by one in cuffs and put them into the backs of cars. Thomas sighed. He could care less about the run of the mill New York scum right now. What he really wanted was to find Derek Greenslade and put the smug bastard behind bars himself. We'll find him, Thom. Just be patient. "Yeah..." Thomas muttered to himself, gripping the roof's ledge with a grunt of frustration. He wanted to find the murderer who took his girlfriend's mom from her. "Patient."
