College offered a lot of fun advantages and courses, but what Dot enjoyed most were the clubs she was allowed to join. The college afforded her with a group specifically for Wiccans, which Dot wasn't entire sure she was. She was a witch, it had very little to do with religion. But it really was a religion. Her magic, as Sheila told her, was all about belief and will. You had to believe in it like you would a god, like you would an entity, or else it just won't be there for you. Expect it to be there for you, and it will manifest. It was a hard lesson for her to learn, but she was already over that hump. Life was easy like that. When her mind accepted something as fact, it treated that thing like a fact already, whether it was fantastically hard to believe or not. All a person had to be was convinced, and Dot was.
One of the greatest things to come from that Wiccan group was meeting Sabrina, the reincarnate of Willow Rosenberg. Sabrina was the first witch that Dot had ever met. It helped. Especially on mornings like this, when Dot needed somebody to drag out of bed to do witchy things. From the way she knew California, it was easy to forget she wasn't from around these parts - at least until she opened her mouth. California was ripe with magic. It was no Mystic Falls, but there were key points in wooded areas that Dot had made it a point to visit, just to feel the magic breathing and living around her.
She dragged Sabrina to one of these spots. It would make magic easier - when you utilized your surroundings like that. She had a bag slung over her shoulder, filled with things she would need. The herbs, the candles, the stones, the book, the map and medallion. "We're gon' be working on a location spell today," she told Sabrina as they started their hike deeper into the wilderness. Most people had altars and rooms to conduct their business in - but Dot... this line of Bennett witches - they were servants of nature; it only seemed appropriate.
"Basic, I know. But writing is basic too. You learn it in elementary and ignore how complex that simple act is the rest of your life, until you can't get your fingers to move right no longer. For normal witches, I suppose a possession of the person you're looking for would work. Maybe a strand of hair, that's how it goes on TV. Not for Bennetts. You need blood for this spell. I'm warning you just so you don' find it weird when I pull out a vial of blood for he spell. I don't normal carry other people's blood with my on my person." Dot smiles and adds, "I'm not that far gone yet."
