WHO: Patrick and Adrian WHERE: Buddy's diner, San Francisco, CA WHEN: Slightly backdated to: February 21, 2012. Right after this WHAT: Patrick answers a call of distress. Adrian is apologetic. RATING: TBD WARNING: TBD
Adrian felt like such an idiot, for too many reasons to count. But that was the least of it. He felt betrayed, and he felt guilty. Adrian always tried to do the right thing, but that hardly meant that he always succeeded. He was, after all, only human. Well, mostly. But on the long list of things he was regretful for, a few items stuck out as glaring examples of things gone terribly wrong. Namely, he had betrayed his fiancee with the man who was becoming his best friend. He still wasn't quite sure how that happened. Well, he knew the mechanics of it quite well, thank you very much, but the how or the why he had done such a thing eluded him. Blaming his reincarnate for taking the wheel while he was drunk sounded a bit like a lame excuse to him. Then he had told Angie, the fiancee, about it, because it was the right thing to do. Right? Except in telling her, he had lied to protect the secret of his Reincarnate. Somehow, he didn't think telling Angie that he'd had sex with Patrick because actually they were the reincarnation of two soulmates who had been a married man and wife in another life and even had children of their own would go over too well. Nope.
But then those and all other monumental snafus in his personal life had paled in comparison to the Boston disaster and the backlash that followed. He had felt guilty for not lending aid with Leo's power of healing hands when it was requested of the Reincarnate community at large, but he'd felt he couldn't up and leave his business on so short notice for his employees to run it into the ground now, could he? Well, that was a moot point now that he had been outed as a Reincarnate, because last night and today some of his former employees and former patrons had torn down Buddy's to the ground, and the police were acting like he somehow deserved it.
He had called Patrick in his desperation, because he had no other friends who were Reincarnates, and none of his current acquaintances were exactly taking his calls right now. It was an awful thing to do, and his shitty attempt at texting an apology had gone unanswered. Really? Texting? An apology? After the mess he'd made of things last New Year's Day? What had he been thinking?
Well, in his defense, he hadn't been thinking. He just felt completely alone and, for once in his life, he didn't know what to do. Angie had broken off the engagement after his name was in the news. She had gone to her mother's and was not speaking to him at all. So there he was, sitting among the rubble of what had been his dream business and looking shell shocked, thinking that surely after his stupid apology via text message, Patrick wasn't even going to show, and he wouldn't blame him.
