Warnings: Lots and lots of violence?
Not for the first time in the reincarnate world, open war was on the horizon. Everyone in Camelot could feel it. After a short-lived ceasefire, the battle for Middle-Earth had started it all over again, and ever since then the peace Camelot had fought so hard for two years ago was quickly eroding, piece by piece. For over a month now, ever since the kidnapping of Ava Prince and Sara Taft, there was no doubt in anyone's mind that the Resistance had upped the ante, and it was time for Camelot to call their bluff. Camelot would not tolerate this. Camelot was ready for a fight.
Well, almost. Inspirational words and a give-'em-hell attitude could only take them so far. What they really needed? Practice. Preparation. Camelot had to be ready for anything the Resistance threw at them, and to do that, they had to train. The training rooms were open 24/7, and Sadie Hendrie was one of the many foot-soldiers who made frequent use of them. She knew these rooms better than anyone, except for maybe her brother and his terrifying (but lovable?) assistant, and no matter how much time she spent here, no matter how many exercises she ran through, over and over and over again, she knew it was worth it. The harder she pushed herself, the more she could handle, and that was the point, wasn't it? Had to be prepared for anything, just like the Boy Scouts, except here? It meant the difference between life and death.
Still, that didn't necessarily mean it wasn't a pain in the ass sometimes. After an unexpected move from one of her training partners sent her sprawling, Sadie landed hard on her hip and yelped, losing her grip on her sword thanks to the jolt. "Hey, bad form!" she protested, leaping back to her feet and using the momentum to sweep her weapon back into her hands in a near-acrobatic move. She twirled the sword playfully, though, grinning as she got back into position. "Let's see if you can knock me over without cheating this time, huh?"
